Happy birthday to 'Twilight' and 'New Moon' star Michael Welch

Michael Welch, who plays Mike Newton in Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon, has just turned twenty-two today.

Welch, a rather impressive career actor, has definitely made a name for himself among the Twilight fan community. One of the biggest reasons for that, aside from his spot-on performance as Newton in the first film, is his geniality and openness with the fans. Welch has been a source of great new information, updates, and interviews for many months.

Welch began his acting career in 1998, starting with television series such as Frasier, Veronica's Closet, Two Guys, A Girl And A Pizza Place, before tackling the role of Artim in Star Trek: Insurrection.

Welch's current projects, aside from The Twilight Saga: New Moon, include Rough Hustle and Unrequited.
