Fear Net issues a correction on 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' director David Slade's interview

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade's recent interview with Fear Net included a slightly incorrect quote, which has since been updated.

According to the initial version of the interview,

David didn’t read the books until the studio was interested in bringing him in – then he did his homework.  “It was tough for a middle-aged man to get into,” he admits, “since they are written for 15-year-old girls.  But once I got past that, I found them to be quite good books, and a great story.”  He is especially excited about the great script from Dexter writer/producer Melissa Rosenberg.  Right now, they are still in preproduction, with plans to start shooting later in the year.

However, the corrected version of the interview is as follows:

David didn’t read the books until the studio was interested in bringing him in – then he did his homework.  “It was tough for a middle-aged man to get into,” he admits, “from the point of view of a 17 year old girl.  But once I got past that, I found them to be really good stories.”  He is especially excited about the great script from Dexter writer/producer Melissa Rosenberg.  Right now, they are still in preproduction, with plans to start shooting later in the year.

I'd hold judgment until you've seen the movie (New Moon).

I see. I almost thought that he isn't able to relate to the book at all. But I hope he can deliver the story of Eclipse beautifully...

ugh i'm so sure. who cares. they are written for 15 year old girls. just like HP are children's books. doesn't mean they don't appeal to more people.

    twilight fans are crazy.

As long as he doesn't butcher the film as Hardwicke did, he should be fine. I like his style so we shall see. New Moon was fantastic and I can only hope that he does as well or better than Weitz!
