This weekend was a slow one at the box office, but The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 was still on top, for the third weekend in a row since its theatrical opening.
According to New York Daily News, Breaking Dawn brought in an estimated $16.9 million this weekend, bringing its domestic total up to $247.3 million. Per Box Office Mojo, it's up to $588,300,00 worldwide now.
This weekend's intake was right in line with expectations which ranged from $15 million to $17 million.
Some other interesting statistics about this weekend came by way of Larry 411.
Evidently, Breaking Dawn is now the fourth highest-grossing picture of 2011, behind Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, and The Hangover 2. Another year for the sequels, right?
Also interesting is this comparison, which puts Breaking Dawn's intake figures in perspective with regard to the previous three films. By 17 days, each film had grossed the following amount, per Larry 411:
- Twilight - $138,402,068
- The Twilight Saga: New Moon - $255,363,052
- The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - $255,835,262
- Breaking Dawn - $247.3 million
