Because of 'Twilight' fame, Quileute Tribe hires a publicist

The Quileute Tribe, a featured Native American tribe that is featured consistently in the Twilight series, and which has become a major subject in the motion picture The Twilight Saga: New Moon, has recently employed the use of a publicist to cope with their Twilight-related fame.

Says the Northwest News and Weather, "The tribe has hired Jackie Jacobs of JTalentgroup in an effort to spread the word about its tradition. The Quileute Reservation lies along the shores of the Pacific coast and the mouth of the Quillayute River, which begins just a few miles west of Forks."

We've already seen the impact that the Twilight series has had upon the locale of its fictional story - Forks, Washington. Prompting the legislature, the community, and the residents to act in one way or another previously, Twilight has certainly affected the area.

That said, it is no surprise that the Quileute Tribe might go to such measures to protect their heritage in the midst of its representation in the film(s). They are portrayed most heavily through the "wolfpack" - especially a main character of New Moon, Jacob Black.

So, can you think of any benefit that the tribe would receive from using a publicist in times like these? Comment below and let us know!

I hope they use the publicit to promote the Quileute tribe's heritige along with Twilight. When we went to La Push, there was hardly anything available on their actual history and legends. I think it would be awesome if they utilzed Twilight to educate other about their tribe. I would absolutely love it if they would offer a beach bonfire and Quileute Legends activity for Twilighters visiting La Push and Forks!

amango didn't know the tribe is real.

luv4rob wants to know if they are really werewolves.

And sparklejunky thinks they should embrace the chance to become a tourist attraction for privileged brats.

My eyeballs are rolling. Yes, the tribe needs a public image agent- and a lawyer or three.

I think the Quileute ought to get a large percent of her royalties, myself. Talk about cultural appropriation!

I have to agree with Firstnaitons!!!! Leave the poor Quileute people alone. The last thing they want is to be observed like rats in a cage. Go to a museum if you want to do that.

So who's idea was it to have Stephenie Meyer’s Day in Forks? (quileutes.com/quileute-la-push/lodging-in-forks-wa.html) Sounds like they are capitalizing on the whole Twilight Movie. Note the Tribe controls what business occurs on the Reservation so sounds like they've got on the money train as well.

I can understand why the quileute tribe would want to protect their image. They have a proud heritige; The Quileute were regarded by many as “second only to the Makah as whalers, and first among all the tribes as sealers.” Source:(www.quileutes.com/quileute-indian-reservation/the-quileute-tribe.html) Now days I guess all they are recognized for is mostly the twilight series.

I think it is interesting to learn more everyday. I am quite interested in the Quileute Tribe now. Excuse me but I didn't know they even existed until recently. If they want the world to know more about their Tribe and what's real or not.. well it's the best chance now.. and yes I'm sure they will get plenty of money out of the series.. do they really need money in fact? I thought they were more with "the nature". Good for them that more people know about them.. sorry for them because now they are famous and will need to deal with all that unwanted fame..
