Alexandre Desplat's 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' score playlist revealed

Photo: Summit Entertainment/E1 Entertainment

Last year, Carter Burwell took the Twilight world by storm with his wildly appropriate compositions for the film's score, and, this year, Alexandre Desplat is all set to do the same with his score of The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

If you've listened to the New Moon soundtrack, you've already heard one portion of Desplat's work, "New Moon [The Meadow]," but the score for The Twilight Saga: New Moon will much more fully purvey Desplat's musical trappings.

The album is set for release on November 24th, and its cover art was only recently revealed.

Now, thanks to a fantastic new press release, the entire track list for the album is available. The song list is as follows.

  1. New Moon
  2. Bella Dreams
  3. Romeo & Juliet
  4. Volturi Waltz
  5. Blood Sample
  6. Edward Leaves
  7. Werewolves
  8. I Need You
  9. Break Up
  10. Memories of Edward
  11. Wolves v. Vampire
  12. Victoria
  13. Almost a Kiss
  14. Adrenaline
  15. Dreamcatcher
  16. To Volterra
  17. You are Alive
  18. The Volturi
  19. The Cullens
  20. Marry Me, Bella
  21. Full Moon

Wowza, right? These song titles certainly paint a pretty picture of the film's progression, don't they? Even a casual Twilight fan would probably be able to parse out the significance of this nomenclature.

While some of the titles, like "Dreamcatcher" and "New Moon," might be a little nondescript, most of these titles ring a particular bell and serve as an immediate reminder of scenes from the book and film clips already seen.

Care to try and place the songs alongside their respective scenes? Comment below with your thoughts!

I would think that "dreamcatcher" is related to a dream sequence and has something to do with the dreamcatcher that Jacob gives Bella for her birthday...but who knows...

I'm kind of sad Carter isn't composing - the compilations were SO perfect and really captured the essence of the first movie. While we're on a new movie, this is still the same people in it, so I'm hoping the feel of Carter's music will transpire through Desplat's.

Personally, I like Carter better, but I hope my mind will be changed for me :)

I too wish they'd release it before the movie! There's no good reason for them to wait unless the score would give away too much.

I can't even imagine how two songs end up between "almost a kiss" and "to Volterra". These things happen almost simultaniously in the book... which leads me to believe that they changed the sequencing on these events. This theory is bolstered by the trailer. Remember when Jacob says "he left you, he didn't want you any more"? They're outside the house and Bella is walking up the front stairs and not standing in the kitchen. I hope they don't cut out the part where Edward calls and asks where Charlie is and Jacob says "at the funeral." Come ON now. That seems pretty crucial! They'll have to twist everything up on this most important turning point in the movie.

Oh yeah... who can forget how much they messed up the first movie... okay then... bring on the second screwed up movie. I'm sure I'll love it for it's own watered down, chopped-up self.

I just went and watched the trailer again... maybe Bella and Jacob are inside when she says she has to go... maybe I was thinking of another scene... there are so many "clips" out there that I'm getting them all confused! Can't wait for the movie to clear it all up. So far it looks like Chris is doing a better job following the book, but I'm still holding off judgement.

Darn. I hate that the score comes out after the movie. I wasn't much of a fan on The New Moon Soundtrack, but the Score is always awesome, no matter what. I really loved the score for Twilight, so I hope the one for NM will be just as good.

After seeing "Twilight" I had to buy the score immediately-found out Carter Burwell was the composer and understood why his music had such an impact. "New Moon"'s score sets a mood, but lacks something-can't help but wish some of the original score was incorporated in this sequel.
