'Jericho' cast takes a stand
I want to share far too many sentiments regarding the condensed ranger boot camp that I have experienced this week before offering my thoughts regarding the extra features that are exclusive to the complete series DVD set of 'Jericho," Most importantly, I want to thank the people who added such truly valued comments to my entries regarding the first and second seasons.
I apologize as well that this entry will seem uncharacteristically like a rookie actor's acceptance speech on an awards show. I promise extra irreverent remarks and mocking of celebrities in my next entry.
Your support means a tremendous amount, and I understand how CBS understood your passion regarding this great show. I feel genuinely that I have spent a week at summer camp with you folks and that it is sadly now back-to-school time.
I responded to every e-mail, but one reply came back as undeliverable. I want that person to know that I did not forget her. I also want to thank Shelby particularly; his or her e-mail was just as fantabulous as he or she kindly considered my thoughts regarding Season Two.
I want to say as well that I feel that watching everything "Jericho" related that CBS has produced has given me an even better comprehension of what the veteran rangers have experienced in the past few years. Further, I share your sadness that there is nothing new. I truly fought the competing instincts to see everything that CBS produced and to save something for later.
The SighFi Channel not showing the last few episodes of Season One annoyed me but I accepted that I would buy the DVD set of that season and watch those episodes before watching the Season Two episodes that I Tivoed. Some network has to keep the remaining "Mork and Mindy" fans happy, and we should be grateful that Sighfi did not air episodes of the failed 1960s fantasy-sitcom "My Mother the Car."
Watching the last portion of Season One on DVD sparked the enthusiasm and passion that showed you folks my sincerity. I might have traveled to the CBS New York headquarters from my Massachusetts home to hand-deliver a big bag of peanuts if I had watched those episodes during the CBS run.
Many of you know as well that the second season episodes and DVD extras inspired an unprecedented late-night writing session. I want a third, and a fourth, and a fifth season as much as you do and ask that you please send me updates so that I can use this forum to communicate this new information. I have added a "Jericho" classification to my categories.
I want to remind you as well that I think that sending CBS executives apple pies will show a continued dedication to campaigning for a third season. I I am convinced that what worked once will work again and am considering hand-delivering some in early January.
My last thought regarding "Jericho" overall before FINALLY discussing the exclusive extras in the complete series DVD set is that everything that I know about this show puts the cast in a dead heat with the Stargate actors regarding the cast with whom I would like to share a beer. In the case of "Jericho," apple pie around a kitchen table would be more appropriate.
A whimsical segment entitled "100 Reasons to Watch Jericho" that a man, who I assume was a fan as opposed to a production person, created is my favorite feature. It is a fast-paced short film that offers those reasons while showing related clips. I am not sure if the fan is in love more with Skeet Ulrich or Ashley Scott. Being in love with either or both is perfectly cool.
"Bunny" and "funny arms Skeet" are two of my favorite reasons from this hilarious feature. The fan did forget the reason "horny dimwitted farmhands getting trapped in haylofts."
Borrowing a concept from humor writer Dave Barry, the phrase "Eric and the rangers" from an entertaining feature on a table read of the script from the first episode of the second season prompted the thought that this would be a good name for a rock band.
I also liked the feature that showed cast members discussing moments from Season Two that were memorable to them. I warn "Jericho" virgins that these clips contain spoilers galore and will ruin almost every surprise from these episodes.
I want to mention to that my experience with "Jericho" has inspired me to finally rewatch my DVD set of "firefly" and write a follow-up to my entry about "Serenity" early next week. Perhaps rangers and browncoats can form an alliance and share strategies regarding getting these maligned programs back in primetime.

I'm all for sharing apple pie with the cast of Jericho. In my opinion, they were a wonderful ensemble cast. I didn't start watching Jericho until halfway through the second season, so I missed the whole 'sending in nuts' campaign. I've sent in a few since then, though. Jericho is the best show on television in many, many years. It's too bad that the people who have all the power didn't realize this. I think they're too busy trying to figure out what city to place the next CSI spinoff in. Thanks for the article. Take care.
John, John, John, you are a homeboy!! As I'm quickly reading through your "Jericho" reviews, I happen to notice the lovely shot of SC State House at the top of the page. My fellow South Carolinian is also a fellow "Jericho" fan.
I'm glad to have found you. I spend about half my working life in Columbia and the other half in the Upstate, and I was a little-late-to-the-party "Jericho" fan, because I was stuck -- guess where? -- working at the State House on Wednesdays during Season 1. But once I found it, post-nuts and post-resurrection, I have held firm and fast to this show for its gut-wrenching story about all those things we hold dear -- family, love, teamwork, friendship, community, commitment -- the true things in life that are the constants when all the superfluous stuff we THOUGHT we wanted and needed falls away and holds no power or promise for us, anymore.

Welcome to the ranks of the Rangers! It's so great to see a writer who actually watches what he pontificates about. Now you know why we were so outraged at the "conclusion" of Season One, and why we want to know what happens after Season Two. There is just so much more story to tell.
Thanks for keeping up to date with Jericho! As you can see, it is a "once you start watching you can't stop" kind of show. The characters pull you in, which is due to the excellent writing and acting in this show. Jericho deserves to have its story told......and the fans cannot wait to see what is going to happen next.
