The Cape faces a new inner challenge and Mena Suvari as a new adversary

In tonight’s episode of The Cape, entitled “Dice,” Peter Fleming (James Frain) and the ARK Corporation prepare to unveil a special device that has the ability to alter the fate of Palm City but may be brought down by an unlikely foe. Tracey Jerrod aka Dice herself (guest star Mena Suvari), a young savant and the inspiration for the device, actually targets Chess himself to avenge her father’s death. Vince (David Lyons) learns that in order to fully destroy Chess and all he is doing, he must actually keep him alive a little bit longer, so he works on mastering new abilities to aid with this, all while grappling with how his decision will affect his family.

That’s a mouthful, huh??

"It's a very jagged pill for him to swallow. The same man that has relegated him to living his life underground is the same man that he has to save from this woman who dies," Series star Lyons told LA TV Insider Examiner this morning.

"Through the help of Orwell [Summer Glau], she allows him to understand the importance of keeping the one man that can prove he's innocent alive, and it kind of stems from there."

Lyons admitted the show has been incredibly physically demanding-- more so than any of his other previous work. He trained with a mixed martial arts fight choreography crew in order to get the technique down.

"In addition to just running around and sort of fighting, there it's quite a process...and a process that I'm still quite intrenched in and still learning my limitations in addition to Vince Faraday's," he shared.

But he also acknowledged that as the episodes go on, each week we will see him doing things that are less and less family-related. After all, he can't keep visiting his young son, lest he risk the chance of being exposed! This is something that Lyons said increasingly frustrates him as time goes on.

Does that mean The Cape will be spinning out of control? Not necessarily, though Lyons admitted that it is those reasons Frain's "very calm Chess" acts as the perfect dichotomy, in addition to the perfect nemesis.

Tonight, though, he has a new mini-nemesis in Dice herself, who stands in the way of him getting to Chess. Lyons said that Suvari was great to work with because offers so much as an actress:

"The way she plays it is so subtle and nuanced, and suddenly her relationship with Peter Fleming...blossoms into a pseudo-sexual kind of relationship between two very aggressive individuals who are after the same thing."

Uh oh, is this some sort of twisted new threesome? Why yes, it is!

"Placed in the middle of that is Vince Faraday," Lyons added, "who's constantly trying to keep her at bay-- which, as I say, is a difficult pill to swallow-- from the one man who he despises so much."

Dice is a savant, as we mentioned, but what else could he spill about the character?

"She has the ability to, essentially, predict the future by reading the environment," Lyons previewed. "Her perception and intelligence is so vast that she can sense things before they happen."

But somehow it doesn't sound like she will be able to predict or prevent her own demise! You can watch Lyons, Frain, Suvari and the rest of the talented cast of The Cape on NBC, Monday nights at 9pm.
