Parker Posey hops from one comedy to another, joins 'The Big C' in season two

Parker Posey may not have had a series of her own since the short-lived Amy Sherman-Palladino helmed The Return of Jezebel James a few years ago, but she has made her mark by guest starring on others. Before the end of this season of the acclaimed NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation she will make an appearance, and today Showtime also announced her joining the cast of The Big C when it returns on June 27th.

Posey will portray Poppy, "an older woman who develops an unlikely relationship with Cathy's teenage son" in four episodes of the second season of their hit cancer comedy. Hmm, is he looking for a surrogate mother figure after finally coming to terms with the severity of his mother's illness during the first season finale?

Also announced: British film star Hugh Dancy will join the cast for at least six episodes as Lee, a fellow cancer patient who gets off to a bad start with Cathy (Laura Linney) during their experimental treatments but manages to win her over with his charms.

These two follow on the heels of the previously announced Alan Alda's guest stint, as well. It's gearing up to be a good season already!
