Is a 'Veronica Mars' movie in the works?

At the Paley Center for Media's season two premiere celebration for the hit STARZ comedy, Party Down, show creator Rob Thomas and its stars Ken Marino, Ryan Hansen, and Adam Scott just couldn't escape the inevitable questions about the potential of a Veronica Mars "reunion" movie. After all, the show was canceled before ever really getting a series finale, and though it's final season finale has held up as one, of course fans want more!

"I'd love to do one...Kristen [Bell] would love to do one...We [just] need someone to pay for it!" Thomas admitted.

Glancing around at the guys, who were all nodding slowly but awaiting their boss' final answer, he added "I don't know, though. I don't want to stomp on it, but I don't want to stroke hope [either.]" After all, the cast has all gone their separate ways, and with so many years between the finale and now, even if Thomas gets a studio to fund his big screen adaptation, it may prove a harder feat to reunite the core cast. Just look at the trouble the Arrested Development movie is having in trying to get underway!

Judging from the fan support at the Paley Center last night, though, if the movie does eventually get made, the audience will still be there. Meanwhile, though, fans can catch Marino, Hansen, and Scott in Party Down's second season premiere on Friday, April 23 at 10 pm.

There better be a movie made soon or else people aren't going to care enough anymore to actually go see it. Isn't that what happened with the X-Files movies? Anyway Jason Dohring's not doing anything so at least there's one guy they know they can lock in!

I'd gladly hand over a chunk of my savings to see a VM movie. I know a lot of other fans would too, if we had some kind of legit movie fund.

I offered to donate to said fund but I know my measly savings is nowhere near the budget of even an independent film, let alone something of this caliber. But if we start a fundraising campaign online, I'm sure the fans can make something happen.

I don't have savings to donate, but I'll go see the movie, I'll buy the movie, I'll buy the soundtrack, I'll buy the movie accessories - t-shirts, keychains, whatever, hook me up! :D
