Variety is reporting that separate from the glee cast taking the stage for a live, four-city concert tour, there are also negotiations going on with licensing company Music Theater Int to adapt the hit musical comedy into a Broadway play.
Nothing has been finalized for the venture, according to a rep for MTI, and details are scarce, in large part because the project is still in its initial stages of development with Fox and glee creators. However, the concept is hardly far-fetched considering how well High School Musical productions (another MTI program) have done in theme parks and small stage productions. The wealth of talent from the show itself might burn itself out trying to do a full order of a television show and a seasonal play, but fresh, young performers would jump at the chance to take part in the franchise.
Since the Broadway version of glee may prove to be just a rumor or something that gets shelved until well after the series has come to an end, amateur actor/singer hybrids may not want to hang all of their hopes on breaking out on such a stage. However, if it is the glee franchise you simply want to join, you can submit yourself and your demo reel on a very special audition website. Three lucky (and talented!) individuals will be hand-selected by the producers and execs to win second-season roles.
