Today a representative from the publicity department at Warner Brothers and The CW confirmed to Examiner an internet rumor that during season six of Supernatural, series star Jensen Ackles will direct at least one episode of the demon-hunting drama!
Ackles has spoken of his love of the behind-the-scenes workings of film and television many times, most recently at this year's Creation Entertainment "Salute to Supernatural" convention in Los Angeles. He spoke highly of the entire crew behind Supernatural, especially the show's D.P. (director of photography), who is responsible for collaborating with the director(s) to create the look of the show.
"I have always had an interest in all areas of production, not just acting," Ackles said in March 2010.
His co-star in crime...err, fighting, Jared Padalecki added "Honestly, he has a great, contagious love for the work. When you're doing 16-hour days for eight or nine months, you have to remember to be excited about it and to be passionate about it. Jensen has that!"
Ackles has previous experience in producing (a short film called Clownana that made the internet rounds in the mid-2000s), but this will be his first mainstream, non-acting Above the Line credit and his first ever in the director's chair.

I would love to see a scene in which Dean, Sam, Castiel, and Bobby all sit around playing poker and drinking beers. Just being normal for a change. It would be a challenge for all of them, I'm sure, but they have to have SOME downtime, right??
That would be Awesome! But Please not all the ep about Sam!! I know it would be hard for Jensen to Act and Direct at the same time but give it a try Cause I bet Jensen rocks!
I bet he would bring out a lot of great work in Jared... and though I am more a Dean Girl, I think a Sam-centric episode would be awesome.

I'd like to see the boys come to New Orleans for a ghost hunt with voodoo elements based on the Lalaurie House, where (horribly) a wealthy woman tortured and murdered some of her slaves. An awful story, but the house is supposedly haunted, and it would be an interesting back story for a ghost hunt. Then they can come to my house and save my butt and have a beer with me. That's my pitch. :)
Jensen is directing episode 3 and oddly enough production is shooting out of schedule and epi 3 is shooting first and it starts shooting in 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to his directorial debut. Go Jensen!
