British chef Jamie Oliver is on a quest to make sure your children are eating healthy foods.
His reality series, Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, has its season finale tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC 30.
Set in Huntington, West Virginia, the show follows Oliver's efforts to convert the public school system to fresh-cooked food and educate the community about easy, healthy cooking.
His challenges have included overcoming preconceived notions about his goals and fighting a bureacratic school lunch system that, for example, counts french fries as a vegetable.
In tonight's episode, Oliver will learn what happened once he left Huntington. Will the changes he pushed for succeed, or will everything go back to the way it was?
Oliver has also been using the promotional platform of the television show to collect signatures nationwide in support of healthy school foods. The petition reads:
I support the Food Revolution. America's kids need better food at school and better health prospects. We need to keep cooking skills alive.
Signatures have been collected online and through text messaging. So far, 437, 215 Americans have signed. Of those names, 7,635 came from the state of Missouri. The most signatures have come from California, which so far has over 56,000 signers.
Though the show is winding down, Oliver's mission to help people learn simple and delicious cooking carries on. The show's website features several resources, and Oliver's own site has an extensive collection of recipies.

I am hoping this show gets renewed for another season. Maybe a few people actually got something from this show, who knows maybe we may even see a town challenge themselves into getting healthier. This by far has been one of my more favorite shows.
