Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of the former president of the United States, Bill Clinton, and current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, is getting married this weekend, and the guest list is said to include hundreds of people. President Barack Obama was said to be invited; however, he taped an appearance on ABC's The View, and debunked such rumors. He did however explain his absence from the upcoming nuptials.
Whenever the current president attends an event (as is true with any president), there is major security detail in place and it is a full operation to ensure his safety as well as that of those in attendance at the event. According to People Magazine, President Obama told the women of The View why being at the wedding would take away from the experience: "I was not invited to the wedding, because I think Hillary and Bill, properly, want to keep this thing for Chelsea and her soon-to-be husband."
He went on to explain: "You don't want two presidents at one wedding! All the secret service, guests going through (metal detectors), all the gifts being torn apart."
There would surely be high security at such an event as the president points out. As various reports state, Chelsea Clinton's wedding is to surely be one of the best weddings of the year.
