'The Biggest Loser' interview: Sam Poueu on Stephanie romance, strategy

Sam Poueu may have left "The Biggest Loser" ranch on Tuesday, but he still has plenty to be excited about. Not only did he lose almost 140 pounds from the experience, but he also found love through fellow contestant Stephanie Anderson.

On Tuesday I had the opportunity to speak Sam, and romance was a hot topic of conversation.

Matt: Are you surprised they didn't show more of your relationship with Stephanie? I know that this isn't "The Bachelor" or anything but this was an inspiring story.

Sam: It wasn't that I was surprised -- we were already told ahead of time that this wasn't going to air or be played out on the show -- it's not about finding love or anything like that. For us, it allowed us to be more comfortable...there was not a person in that ranch's vicinity that didn't know we were in love.

Seeing it slowly starting to play out, and getting Facebook people telling you 'oh, I just saw you two holding hands!' It's cute...and to have my elimination episode show her a part of my life was very much-needed and well-deserved.

Matt: Let's talk about the vote -- did you think it would be a tie between you and Mike?

Sam: I was surprised, man...we're down to six right now, four compete for the grand prize. Mike has a great chance of winning the entire thing. You think about past contestants winning at 50% or more total body loss. Mike at 50% will be 270 pounds, and that's very possible.

That made me think ok, there's only a few more weeks until we have to be back. Did they just hand him a quarter of a million dollars? ...At this point, we have the tools to help ourselves in 'The Biggest Loser' afterlife. So what's all this about? You have an opportunity to win some money here, That's the way I looked at it, but when I was sent home I was like 'ok...guess I'm going home!'

Sam, Koli and Michael are my favorites. These guys can make me cry anytime. And yes, Sam is a real Hottie! I guess there's hope for my guy to look like a hottie too.
    Stephanie is soooo lucky!

Is it wrong that I was sad to see Sam go and jealous to find out he is dating Stephanie?!? I was ready to suggest NBC let Sam star in his own bachelor-type show (and cast me as one of the girls!!). Stephanie is my age - 6 years older than Sam - so I guess everything is possible. :-)
I loved Sam & Mike so it was sad to see them against each other, Mike should win this now so I'm behind him 200%. How can you not be!!!
