'The Biggest Loser' interview: Andrea Hough on inspiring others

Andrea ("Drea") Hough became the latest casualty on "The Biggest Loser" Tuesday night, even though she did lose nearly eighty pounds over the course of the show (and has lost even more since that point).

On Wednesday I had the opportunity to ask the Ann Arbor, Michigan native about what inspired her to go on the show and her plans to inspire others moving forward.

Matt Carter: So why did you decide to audition for "The Biggest Loser?"

Andrew Hough: My dad [Darrell], which is kind of shocking since my dad at that point was the biggest introvert ever. He woke up one day and 'Biggest Loser' is coming to town Saturday, wanna go try out?' I laughed, because there was no way my father would actually want to do that.

He said 'I'm serious,' and I said 'I will be there.' We went for it -- the change was necessary and after years of trying to lose weight and not being successful I kind of felt like there was no hope. 'The Biggest Loser' seemed to work, and that was really the last resort that we had.

Matt: If there was any one thing you took away from your time on the ranch, what was it?

Andrea: Besides all the physical things that we learned -- we learned about working out and treating your body right -- the thing that I learned that could apply to anybody is recognizing that you can do anything that is set before you, and you might not do it the fastest and with the best technique but you can finish. Once you start realizing that you're able and capable to do things, there's a whole new part of your life that's going to open up -- and for me that definitely applied while at the ranch and at home. I can do anything that's set before me. It make life a lot more fun!

Matt: Awesome. Thanks, Drea.

Andrea. No problem, Matt.

I am a long time fan....however this year the cast has been somewhat off. I really hate to see Drea off the show and I don't know if I can continue to watch the show this year.
