Last week on "The Amazing Race," we saw detectives Louie & Michael struggle through puzzles, pasta, and...well, everything. Therefore, they have to make up a significant amount of time over the next leg and also deal with a speed bump.
We also learned very early on a few new things about Jet & Cord -- Cord got a hoof to the side of the head and was therefore on the verge of death. However, they fight on! The first challenge sounded simple but was actually next to impossible -- find the "Garden Bridge," which is actually known by a different name in China. Models Brent & Caite were the first to get a cab to the next destination, whereas Dan & Jordan (who we heard all about their "dream" again) struggled to find someone who spoke English.
The Cowboys eventually found out where they were going, but the models already figured out that they needed to head next to a temple without using a taxi. Caite (who has moved on from the Miss Teen USA pageant to become a master of geography) figured out to take the bus.
Then, the brothers made a decision that can be considered questionable at best -- deciding to go back and wait for the cops simply to keep themselves from racing alone. Sure, the detectives have a speed bump that could slow them down, but what if they make a mistake? The cops sure aren't going to wait!
Brent & Caite arrived first at the roadblock, and our resident beauty queen had to quickly transition from geography to math. The task? Counting a ton of Buddhist statues. If you mess up, you have to wait another ten minutes before you can guess again.
Caite was struggling, but it's not exactly like she had a ton of competition catching up to her. The cowboys chose the incorrect mode of transportation, and the final two teams decided that the "Garden Bridge" was close by and visible by binoculars. This led to an epic meltdown by the brothers once they finally got in a set of cabs -- all their driver had to do was fellow Mike & Louie, but a red light (and a language barrier) messed that up.
Jet & Cord arrived next to the Roadblock, but were stalled by their inability to see the clue. However, they actually managed to finish the task just before the models. Teams were then given a motorcycle, and then had to search in the crowded streets for a clue. The detour was two things involving pork: chops and dumplings. However, the "chops" were actually stamps that they had to find in a store.
Meanwhile, the final two teams finally made it to the first clue and continued to take their sweet time. The two arrived to the Roadblock together, but the cops were derailed by one of the easiest Speed Bumps in history -- tossing coins into an incense burner. This took all of about eight seconds, which makes me wonder why they put the Speed Bump here in the first place. It was still enough to get Dan & Jordan an edge to finish the Roadblock first.
Both Jet & Cord and Brent & Caite chose to do the stamp search, when Brent suffered from an ailment that reminds me of Kisha & Jen two seasons ago -- a potty break! He and Caite squabbled to no end on something that literally took him about two minutes to do, and meanwhile the Cowboys got to jump ahead. That was ultimately short-lived, though, and Brent's hilarious toilet stop didn't impact the models' quest to finally finish a leg in first place.
I feel like I have to keep contradicting myself! Right when I say one of these two teams have the edge, it quickly ends up being the opposite. Jet & Cord found a taxi first, but the models passed them when it came to the end of the leg. I hate to say it, but for the first time Brent & Caite seem like serious threats to win this. The biggest obstacle is simply going to be each other. They also got to meet the world's tallest man, which only makes sense since the late Ping Ping showed up last week. Jet & Cord were then in second place, and looked like someone just told them Old Yeller dies when Phil broke the news of second place.
I actually thought that the detectives were completely out of this leg at this point, but (as it turned out) they managed to get to the Detour in time to tie things up with the brothers. Both teams chose to hunt for stamps, and frustration set in for Dan & Jordan. They still finished first, and at that point there was really no doubt that the two would beat Louie & Michael to the end.
In the end, I am actually incredibly disappointed to see Louie & Michael go, simply because they were a different team than we're used to seeing. The brothers are a bit more stereotypical, and I always want to see an older team stick around.

I want the models to win, just because all the hate that's coming their way is so off-putting. My favorites were the cowboys but now I am rooting for the models cuz I'm tired of hearing about how dumb and shallow they're supposed to be, even though pretty much everyone who has played in earlier seasons also did similar things (U turn for emotional reasons, being lost and insensitive about foreign cultures) but have not received the kinda flack these guys have.
The models are a disaster! Brent says something completely nonsensical every episode. And I used to be a fan of the brothers, but they were so angry toward everyone in tonight's episode, including the cab drivers who they blamed for not speaking English, that I'm no longer rooting for them. The cowboys are the only decent pair left, they seem like nice guys, are polite to everyone, and are enjoying the experience. I really hope they win!
I hope B&C do not win. They are not nice people. I know it's already over and the results are in but one can still HOPE! They are a negative twosome and she is still trying to make amends for messing up during some long ago Miss A contest. Get over it and get a LIFE! Even if you do win, I still think you need a course on how to treat people.
