TBS executive hoping Conan O'Brien will be a home run

Steve Koonin has high hopes for Conan O'Brien, and rightfully so. He saw what the late-night comedian did on "Late Night" and "The Tonight Show," and he's certainly paying attention to the fact that Conan's comedy tours have sold out pretty much across America. As a matter of fact, Coco's mere presence brought two million extra viewers to "60 Minutes."

Therefore, a new report by The Canadian Press shows that Koonin, the man largely responsible for bringing Conan to TBS, is plenty excited for the prospects of the comedian on cable. More than anything, he is glad that they went about negotiations the right way (or, as you could say, the anti-NBC way):

"To get something done where there is nothing but positive feelings on all sides is the most satisfying thing. We want to be elegant in the way we do business."

Koonin is also hoping that Conan's presence on the network will bring in other original talent to TBS, which relies heavily at this point on syndicated shows such as "Seinfeld" and "Family Guy." The best part for him so far? He has already reportedly received 6,000 letters from Conan fans thanking him for the network's support.

Are you counting the days until Conan's new show debuts in November? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more of the latest news.

Yup, counting down the days til he is back on. Conan is smart, funny and classy which is more than I can say for Leno and the NBC suits that handled the debacle.
