If you're like me, you probably wondered why certain people were chosen for "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" over others. Take me, for instance: I have no idea why Danielle DiLorenzo is on the show while better characters like Twila Tanner are not. However, I'm not the person in charge of casting, and I know they work hard to balance ages and personalities among the tribes.
In a new video on Entertainment Weekly, Jeff Probst told "Survivor" guru Dalton Ross about some contestants who came close to being on the show.
Shane Powers: We already know about Shane's omission: it was brought on because of Russell Hantz. Nothing new here, but I'd still love to see Shane again soon.
Corinne Kaplan: We also already knew about this one: Corinne was too busy with work. Not that I mind her absence, though: she never watched (or even liked) the show to begin with.
Richard Hatch: Hatch was of course kept away by a Rhode Island judge. He still owes them some serious money.
Jonny Fairplay: Fairplay was not asked. I Repeat: Fairplay was not asked.
Colleen Haskell: Finally, someone new! Jeff admitted that Colleen from the first season would have been on the show if she was interested, but quite frankly she wasn't interested.
Ozzy Lusth: People generally either love or hate Ozzy; for Jeff, he said that people had probably seen enough of the guy for now.
Terry Deitz: Jeff said that Terry was considered but it came down to spots. However, I can tell you that Terry was never actually asked. He told me that last September.
Brian Heidik: Brian probably is one of the most sure-fire villains "Survivor" has ever seen, but the problem is that everyone is "repulsed" by the "Thailand" winner too much to see him back.
Mike Skupin: Mike in an interesting one, since Jeff clearly would like to see him back (as would I). However, he's not memorable enough for the casual fan and would be a better choice for a "what if" / second chance season. (I'm going to write about this in the near future.)
Yul Kwon: Yul was a great winner, but he also wasn't apparently entertaining enough. (I disagree.)

All in all, this is a nice list. But what about some people like Ken Hoang, Crystal Cox, Todd Herzog, Gervase Petersen, Sean Rector, Twila, Danni Boatright, and Erik from "Micronesia?" We'll have to find out those answers at a later date.
Who do you think is the biggest "Heroes vs. Villains" omission? Feel free to share your thoughts below.

ian rosenberger should have come back
Big Tom from Africa/All-Stars is my favorite Survivor EVER
I want Ozzy on the show!
lex, ace, yau man and rob c.
DANNI!!!
I can name some 20 sure-fire heroes and about a dozen sure-fire villains. Too bad though, because Jonny Rotten would have scorched Russell in a heartbeat.
gervase and Stephan shuold have been back
Ozzy and Terry should both have been asked back. Its a shame they are not on what looks to be a great season.
I love the game and the show, but personally I think it needs to be harder. While it is certainly a tough experience, they dont even hesitate to vote out the strongest people anymore. Get rid of the weak, make this a game for the strong, mentally AND physically.
Ozzy should clearly have been asked back.
the first ones that pop into my mind that should've been asked back are Ace, Kenny, Ozzy and Terry. Stephen from Toccantins, Sally, Penner, Peigh-Gee (i love her), Rafe, Rob Cesternino, Shii-Ann. Oh and Randy is so smart, he figured out Parvati's game, it's a pitty the others were so stupid in not figuring it out or at least wanting to do smthg about her
#1 snub is the, coined by Mr. Probst himself, "The greatest survivor to never win"...Rob Cesternino from Amazon?! He was the best strategist that I have EVER SEEN including Fairplay or Boston Rob. I wish the Rudy/Rich combo would've come back but both have personal problems which suckk
I think Dream from Survivor Fiji would have been great too for the villains instead of Tyson. Dreamz was so deceptive and dishonest and kept Jeff Probst scrambling to pin him down. Too bad.
