Mo'Nique won a 2010 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress -- and she may also win this year's award for "more information than we really needed to know." After facing some controversy for having "hairy legs" at some past shows this awards season, Mo'Nique stood by her decision yet again. As she told Us Magazine at Sunday's Academy Awards, "I stand by that, mama! And my husband stands by it!"
Mo'Nique's husband reportedly prefers her legs hairy -- that and the BET / "Precious" star says she finds shaving painful. Much of the criticism directed at Mo'Nique over the awards season was based largely on what the perception for what a "star" should look like. However, as she told Barbara Walters during her traditional pre-Oscar special, she is more than happy to follow her own path in an industry littered with preconceived notions of what is "right."
Do you applaud Mo'Nique for going against the grain and keeping her legs hairy? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more coverage.

I have no problem with Monique and her leggs. She should not conform to what Hollywood says is perfection. My problem with her (although I love her) was her sharing her open marriage policy. I think she did an injustice to hundreds of women who are dealing with cheating husbands. Marriage is supposed to be a solid commitment. One not filled with infidelity! It is a scared bond and if you don't intend to honor the marriage bed, why get married. She and her husband should have just lived together. What is the point of the paper. And more importantly what is she teaching her boys! I feel bad for the girls that marry them.
It is Mo'Nique NOT No'Nique.
