'Glee:' Ryan Murphy confirms talks with Britney Spears

There are a number of people who wanted to see "Glee" follow up an episode featuring Madonna's music with one about Britney Spears, and Ryan Murphy has now confirmed that the interest is definitely mutual from both parties.

According to Perez Hilton, the show creator is claiming that he is in talks with the pop megastar's people about an episode for next season:

"We love Britney, we're talking to Britney. I think you have to be very careful on the show not to do too many tribute episodes. but she certainly has a huge body of work to pull from and the kids grew up with her so that is a consideration, they love her. "

While some people are more than excited about this idea, star Matthew Morrison has also proclaimed publicly that he's not so much excited about seeing a Britney episode. Why? His fears probably going along with those of many fans out there -- even though the tribute could work, they also run the risk of becoming gimmicky if the show does too many of them.

So is this good news for you? Let me know your thoughts below and check back soon for more "Glee" coverage, including a recap of Tuesday's new episode. To view photos from the "Glee" tour, follow the link here.

This Glee show is just awful. If I wanted to watch a bunch of no talent singers belt out Britney tunes I'd go to my local karaoke bar. Get this garbage off the air please!

This would be awesome... especially if they're doing Gaga next week... I only know two of her songs... and they are annoying.

Well I hate the show glee, but I would watch a Britney episode, and I'm sure it's the same case for a lot of Britney fan's. So this can only be good for both sides, Brit-Brit gets more publicity and glee gets higher ratings.

I hope they do it! I'd love to see them singing Britney's song, and besides, a lot of her songs fit the charachters very well!
