Former "Firefly" and "Dollhouse" star Alan Tudyk has himself a new role. According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, the man formerly known as Wash and Alpha has signed on to portray LAPD Sargent Dennis Becker in a remake of "The Rockford Files" for NBC. Joe Santos played this role in the original series.
As for other characters, we already know that film star Dermot Mulroney has been cast in the title role, otherwise known as the part James Garner made famous.
This version of "Rockford Files" already has a major challenge: trying to compete with the legacy of a classic show. With some of NBC's recent ratings, though, they need a show that will attract a built-in audience. The only thing they have going against them is that The CW's recent remakes of "90210" and "Melrose Place" haven't exactly shocked anyone in the ratings.
Do you think that casting a "Firefly" alum will help this "Rockford Files" remake start strong? Let me know what you think below!

Comments
Why doesn't David Shore take his "HOUSE" money and go home?
There is NO WAY he is going to TOUCH the essence of Rockford.
He doesn't have James Garner, Noah Beery, Joe Santos, Gretchen Corbett, Stuart Margolin, James Luisi, and Tom Atkins.
Save Dollhouse.
