The final round of Dancing With the Stars aired last night, and Evan Lysacek had a disappointing night that landed him at the bottom of the leaderboard. For the first time this season, Evan and Anna had a difference of opinion and were not on the same page. The confrontation left Anna in tears saying, “It’s a little scary, so I’m a little freaked out.” Will their low scores result in an unexpected elimination, or will Evan’s fans rally to move him into the final two? Here’s how Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya fared during the first round of the finals on Dancing With the Stars.

Redemption Dance Round:
Coached by Len Goodman, Evan and Anna were advised to focus on their connection. Anna reiterated, “It’s all about the power we create." Did their second interpretation of the Viennese Waltz impress the judges?

  • Len Goodman: “It had a lot of movement and elegance, but you collapsed for just a moment. Overall, it was great.” Score: 9.
  • Bruno Tonioli: "I liked the connection. I could feel the sparks.” Score: 9.
  • Carrie Ann Inaba: “The last time you did this, you had a lot going on. This time, all of that was gone. It was beautiful and emotional. I loved it!” Score: 10.

Total judges’ score for redemption dance: 28.

Freestyle Dance Round:
To resolve their differences, Anna Trebunskaya brought in renowned choreographer, Bobby Newberry. Did he do enough to help the routine, or was it too little, too late?

  • Len Goodman: “It certainly wasn’t what I wanted to see.” Score: 8.
  • Bruno Tonioli: "You went demented. I didn’t know if I was watching Footloose or Screwloose. You lost a bit of precision.” Score: 8.
  • Carrie Ann Inaba: “I hate to do this to you, but that was odd. You guys were dancing two completely different routines. The lines didn’t match up.” Score: 8.

Total judges’ score for freestyle dance: 24.

I apologize for the leaderboard info. The Examiner publishing tool is hideous. I have tried on numerous occasions to correct the numbers, all to no avail. Here are the correct figures: Erin: 29 + 26 = 55, Nicole: 28 + 27 = 55, Evan: 28 + 24 = 52.

Nice article. I only watched it once so far.

I really hope Evan can make it through to the top 2. It just doesn't seem right to me if he doesn't. Sure his freestyle was bad, but in my opinion so were the other 2.
