Charlie Sheen's character from 'Two and a Half Men' -- kicking the bucket?

This coming season on "Two and a Half Men," things are about to get mean. According to TMZ, show creator Chuck Lorre is planning to ensure that Charlie Sheen is never going to be able to return to the air -- and is ready to kill off the character of Charlie Harper in order to ensure that happens.

As for how Charlie could die, the stories range from an automobile accident (similar to what happened with Charlie's car going off Mulholland Drive) to even a plane crash. However, there is one question we must ask here -- is this smart? As much as Lorre may hate working with Charlie, people wanted to root for his character -- and the better solution here seems to be finding a way to please longtime fans. Why not have Charlie and Rose run away together and get married in Paris? Sure, it poses the question about why he doesn't communicate back with his brother, but death seems like the wrong way for a show to go after eight years of people getting invested.

In other Sheen news, reports that a potential new sitcom is coming to TBS appear to be false for the time being -- while it's likely that people do want to cast the actor, his instability makes him a hard sell to advertisers.

How do you think Charlie Harper should be written out of the show?
