'American Idol:' Lee DeWyze goes home, gets support from Alex Lambert (photos, video)

Lee DeWyze returned to Chicago on Friday for the annual "American Idol" hometown visit, and suffice it to say his day was about as busy as one would expect. Not only was he surrounded by cameras at every turn, he was also the centerpiece of a parade, visited a local AT&T store, and even threw the first pitch out a Chicago Cubs game. He also performed a few songs including Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody."

He told a local Fox station in an interview that he was still shocked by some of the massive crowds:

“I’m still overwhelmed by all the attention. You get it when you come here and see the fans in person. In L.A. [working on 'Idol'”] you’re really inside a bubble. We don’t read anything on Facebook or things like that. You really can’t. It would be too distracting.”

--

Not only is Lee getting plenty of support from his home crowd, he also has the love of former contestant Alex Lambert, who is now on "If I Can Dream." Lambert recent said that he preferred DeWyze over Crystal Bowersox, that way he wouldn't have to hear an album of "Janis Joplin songs."

Are you rooting for Lee on "American Idol?" Let me know your thoughts with a comment below. My performance show recap is at this link, and photos can be viewed here.

I'm with Lee all the way. I'm a grandmother but I feel his voice is unique and his poise and charm are heartfelt. I'll be the first in line to buy his album.

Lee will be the next American Idol, although, after last year, I should give up trying to predict the winner. Adam should have run away with it and look what happened to him because of the unfair voting system.

This article is wrong on one thing. Alex never said he wouldn't have to hear an album of "Janis Joplin songs." This article is copied from a GOSSIP blog and the writer misconstrued his words to make the story more juicy. What he said was he thinks Lee will win because he's more contemporary and Crystal is more old school like Janis Joplin. Don't believe everything you read people.

Since I have to pick, Lee, because his sound is unique. I love Crystal, too, but her sound is "new/old", "been there, heard that", yes, Joplin, and so is less deserving.
