'American Idol': Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson highly 'unlikely' to be judges

With the rumored "American Idol" judging panel appearing to consist of Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and longtime staple Randy Jackson, some people were bound to fall by the wayside.

According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, it is now looking like Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake, Shania Twain, and Harry Connick. Jr. are all looking to be increasingly unlikely to appear as judges over the course of the coming season. While some of these names were long considered to be darkhorse candidates, Connick's potential appearance had built a fairly large fan base thanks to his excellent performance as a mentor during last season. Not only did he give the hopefuls support, but he also was tough when he needed to be tough.

Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe (who is returning to the show following a two-year absence) is reportedly a fan of both Tyler and Lopez, though he has also said to have been a supporter of Usher and Elton John to appear on the show as potential judges.

Are you disappointed that some of these people will likely not be appearing on the show?
