When looking at Adam Lambert and Kris Allen's top 40 airplay numbers Sunday night, it appeared that both "American Idol" alum were starting to see their songs slide after achieving so much success. This appears to be even more evident after seeing the singers' full numbers across the board Monday -- though Adam is still gaining some spins for "Whataya Want From Me."
Kris Allen remained the most-played "Idol" alum for the past week with "Live Like We're Dying," but he did drop more than 300 spins for the first time in months. He still holds a sizable lead of Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone," which is falling fast from the #2 slot.
Meanwhile, we have a race going for spots #3-5. Adam's "Whataya Want From Me" only trails Daughtry's "Life After You" and Carrie Underwood's "Temporary Home" by less than 150 spins, and he could end up passing both of them in the next week if enough song requests come in on the radio. It's also theoretically possible that Clarkson could fall enough that Adam could be sitting in the #2 spot by this time next week.

A movement started late yesterday across Adam Official, Twitter and other Adam Lambert sites for all Adam fans to make a concerted effort to request WWFM from their local stations this week. I think WWFM could move farther up especially since Adam is gaining so much attention and momentum with his international album promo tour. He is winning the world over one country at a time! Adam's next single will probably drop sometime within the next month...maybe? That's my best uneducated guess. I think they should give WWFM just a bit more time to rise higher on BB hot 100. It's SO CLOSE to cracking the top 20!

I have to agree with "Redstar's comments" on this one. It's definitely time to move on and treat these two with some respect for their talent. To answer your question: Yes, I think they'll be around for some time, especially Adam-talent and charisma to boot.
Given Adam's inate ability to change a song to fit his feelings will make him relevent for a long time. If you follow his work you will see he can go from heart wrenching accoustic to heart stopping rock. He did an accoustic performance of Whole Lot of Love ( I know !) that had you reachin' for a cigarette and you don't even smoke. Yeah it's that good.

Stop the comparisons already! Both Adam and Kris do what they do, and they do it well. Kris's song has been out much longer than Adam's, so maybe it's time for him to move on, but not for Adam's WWFM. It still has plenty of life - some stations are just now picking it up.
There is no need and no reason to compare Adam and Kris anymore- the contest is over, finished and a new Idol will be chosen in 2 months. Also, they have their careers now, and like Daugtry and Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson-there is not need or reason to attache 'American Idol' to their names anymore. They have moved beyond that as the others have done.

I was and still am very disappointed that Kris Allen's first single was a cover not because I have anything against covers per se, but because he was very much sold to us as a singer/songwriter type of performer. So it boggles my mind that his first single is a note for note cover of another band's song -- it feels like we were the victims of a bait and switch. "Oh yeah, he's a singer/songwriter... except that we didn't think any of his own music was strong enough to be his first single, so here's a note for note cover." It doesn't help that I truly dislike that song (it sounds like verbal diarrhea and Kris' voice has a somewhat whiney tone on it) and turn off the radio every time it comes on, so I will be very glad to see that song go away soon.

Adam has been versitile in all that he has done...so far all I have seen out of Kris is this one song and it is really getting tiring....It has been out about 2 months longer than Adams, aren't you all tired of it...Adam took WWFM and made it unplugged and I love it....Try something new Kris...you can't compare Adam and Kris they are both winners....the title helped Kris and Adam didn't need it...
To answer your question ... yes, I think both artists will do just fine first because they are both talented & second because they both have an ardent fanbase. I'm waiting for Kris to release one of the songs that he wrote ... all we've heard on the radio or anywhere is LLWD ... it's time to release a new song since IMO that song has peaked ... WWFM still has some time to peak!
To the person who said DJ's play whatever they want, well no they don't. They play what the program directors tell them to. As for Adam's music, here in Motown anyway, I've only finally begun to hear WWFM these last few weeks and it's been a remix version. What's up with that?? The original is much better! As for his next single, I'm hoping it's VOODOO. That one sounds like an instant hit!!!

One question -- I thought calling radio stations and requesting songs is now considered haressment. Sony keeps telling us to lay off or the stations will just stop playing any Idol music. Apparently this happened to Aiken?!
It's fine to make requests to radio stations. Make sure the station is in your listening area, unless it is an online station. Never spam and request only once per day or once per show. Always be polite and never demanding. Follow these simple guidelines and you're good to go!

Sue Birdie, I am not sure what your problem is and why you are being so nasty. To get airplay, you are supposed to call into the radio stations and request, just as long as you don't bombard them. Once a day is what is recommended. I've only started hearing Adam on the radio in my area, and it's only been twice a day. They were playing Kris six times a day.

Adams first two releases 2012 & FYE, did not perform well(I must have missed that article by you), IF IT had that been Kris you would have written his Obit! I think an important bit of info on the singles by Adam and Kris is that Kris's was released on Sept 23rd and Adam's was release the first week of January. It takes quite a while for a song to rise on spins and charts. I would guess Adam's has a little more time and Kris needs to get a new single out.
Thanks Matt I am pretty sure Adam will keep climbing. Look at his success overseas. In Canada his album made Platinum. In Australia, Japan and Singapore it went Gold. It went Gold here at home but I am hoping it will keep climbing and go Platinum. Let's see what happens in England and the rest of this tour but he is doing really well. I think Allen needs another song out but i don't follow him much.

I am a huge Adam fan, think Kris is extrememly talented too, in a different way, there is no need for fans to argue, tastes are just different...as to the original question, about life left in the tank??? are you kidding??? I just watched a video in which Adam had nothing but praise for his friend Kris, and have seen the vise verse as well..we should follow suite. Since I don't follow Kris's career much, can only comment on Adam, and I think he will be iconic, if not already so, he is still only skimming the top, will be around for a long time, and I hope at some time he returns to musical theatre, if only to dabble for awhile.
