Adam Lambert is now at his highest position yet as a solo artist. The singer, who placed second on this past season of "American Idol," saw his new single "Whataya Want From Me" rise all the way to #37 on the Billboard Hot 100. At this time last week, the song was at #55. Previously, Lambert's highest point post-"Idol" was when "Time For Miracles" debuted at #50.
What is the reason for the sudden jump? You can largely attribute it to both airplay and an appearance Adam made last week on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." The singer has spent much of this week in Canada, and will return Sunday night for the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
Kris Allen, meanwhile, experienced a slight dip as "Live Like We're Dying" dropped to #26 after being at #25 last week. The "American Idol" winner has received a good deal of airplay, but also has not had the same sort of high-profile public appearances as Adam. (However, Fox did recently play his song "Before We Come Undone" during an "Idol" audition episode.)

I think Adam has already surpassed Kris in many ways!! Robi, Sherri and Toto said it all and I agree with them. Adam brings some excitement to his music..something new and somethings that we have not seen in a long, long time. Elvis was exciting but Adam brings a more excitement in his style and music. I hope he does not do any karate moves in his performances!

I love the song pop goes the camera where adam sings how he is going to use fans devotion for fame and fortune. This shows adam only seeks to use everyone in any way to achieve fame. This is an example of illusions of grandeur. I think adam is a flash in the pan nobody. Just my opinion so dont hate me or my Danny Goo key.

Live Like We're Dying remained last week's top-selling Idol download, according to Nielsen SoundScan, moving 65,000 units. Whataya Want From Me came in a close second, with 59,000. Poor baby maybe she needs more spakle for her crater face,eeek.
Adam may pass now, but I think he is fleeting and self destructive, Kris Allen will be around for a long time. As soon as 19E quits pimping Adam then you will see the rise of Kris Allen. They are smart folks...those Sony music and 19E peeps...cashing in on the cow now.
Love Adam and Kris and am SOOOOOOO tired of comparisons. Who cares who sells more at a particular time? They are both successful so far and they sing very different types of songs. Adam is the artist of the decade as far as I am concerned. Kris is warm, homey dependable pop rock. I love the Stones and I love James Taylor- it depends on what mood I am in. Live performance? It's the Stones. And Adam. Kicking back at home it could be either one. Just leave it at that. There is room for commercial and artistic success for both. And, since they are friends, that is just the way they like it.

Adam and Kris both will have wonderful careers in the music business. They are very different artist and diversity is indeed the spice of life. Adam has a more worldwide appeal while Kris will be very popular here in the US. Good luck to both of them!!!
I personally believe that Adam will be around much longer than Kris Allen, even though they are both talented. I think as far as airplay, unfortunantly there are people who do not like Adam for certain reasons and therefore they refuse to play his music. But that's the way it was when I was younger, all the bands and performers I loved never, and I mean never, were played on the radio and some of them are now icons. Kris is a pretty good singer, but Adam is an outstanding extraordinary singer!
I just wanted to add that I wish the both of them the best, they both deserve to have successful careers.

It's about the talent. I always thought Matt Giruad (check out that new classic single) should have been at least 2nd or 3rd behind Adam/Allison if we're going by talent. He wasn't as pretty as Kris. I wish Kris well. However, I don't yet see the talent. He tried vainly to reach those high notes of the National Anthem, and it was very pitchy and sounded terrible IMO. Adam has unlimited talent and a personality that should get him anything he wants. As he has said many times, he just has to focus on the prize.
p.s. I hate that picture of Adam. There are much better pics out there.
I'll ignore the Kris fans who came onto this article to post their negativity and focus on the positive Kradam fans. I am not going to answer the authors question because quite frankly I am sick and tired of the two being compared. To say it's annoying is about as big an understatement as you can get. Idol ended months and months ago. Do they have to be in a competition their entire careers?
I like Kris Allen but I LOVE Adam Lambert. He's such a terrific performer and an amazing singer!! I think he (unfortunately) has a uphill battle in terms of air play on some radio stations because of their bias against gays. I live in a very conservative West Texas town and our top pop station, Mix100, has never played Adam's wonderful hit song "What Do You Want From Me?". I've requested a couple of times, but no luck. They play Kris Allen's song all the time. I hope they'll eventually loosen up and give Adam's music a chance. In terms of talent and charisma Adam is definitely number one!!

Adam's cd is gold in US and Canada. He has been making a big splash in Canada this week. His music video has been #1 for the past three days on Itunes. And his single is moving quickly up the mediabase airplay chart. Happy Birthday to Adam.
Such ugly statements!! Must be 12 year olds. I do agree that everyone should quit comparing these two guys. They are totally different. If you like Kris' style of music, chances are you will not like Adam's and visa versa. What's the big deal. Just enjoy the success of your favorite, download their tunes and go on with your life. It's not necessary to blast anyone else to enjoy the music you like. Reporters: Take heed. We don't like this comparison BS any more, so QUIT.
Kris is a fine man one of the purist souls there can be..But as far as single sales go if you go to Kris's twitter and watch how many singles AR paople are buying, well History is repeating itself.And to me this is the worst thing to be doing to Kris...its called false hope and false readings it will hurt Kris in the end I am sorry to say because He deserves so much better. As far as pimping Adam, umm the shows want Him, and 99% have asked for Him to be on their shows, the radio stations want His interviews (which after He does them He always gets grave reviews from them) and the ratings of the shows skyrocket...Let these two fine men enjoy their fame they are both great people and deserve everything that comes their way.

Kris is nice, but mediocre at best. Adam is just amazing vocally and personally. He is beautiful inside and out.
Although it is interesting to see how they compare saleswise, as if to justify or question the Idol results, it really is unnecessary. They are 2 different types of artists, and there is room for more than one style and one artist in the music biz. Although I like Kris and think he is very talented, and Adam is definitely my preference, I think we should take our cues from Adam's response to Idol's results last May. Kris officially won that competition, but Adam got what he wanted out of it, and he is still a surefire winner, too. And we fans get to enjoy him. And Kris's fans get to enjoy Kris. It's past-time to move on and let them both be the artists that they want to be and for everyone to just enjoy the ride, and stop the constant comparisons and hatin'. I wish them both all the best, including successful, long-lasting music careers!

Kris's home state brought in his cheating win and now they buy his single. Now the cheater is in a Ford commercial. I am writing to Ford and telling them that this cheater should not be given the respect of a real winner. How disgraceful was it when Kris used the Haiti tragedy to get attention saying he was going there when he did not and lying about being asked to be on George Clooney's telethon. Adam's album has outsold Kris' album even though the bigots in Arkansas and other places around the country are not playing Adam's music. Had Adam won as he should have he would have had more momentum and would not have had as much trouble with the bigots. Arkansas did an evil thing.
Glad to see SINGLE NUMBER 3 finally took off, after all that promo RCA busted their asses to give him. @Phyllis You are right, Arkansas did not just cheat Adam, they had vote parties going on for weeks. They knocked out the contestants one by one. They did not just vote with AT&T help they jammed the others phone lines. They jammed Danny's on the night of the final three and Adam's on the night of the final. Anyone who thinks Danny's votes went to Kris is wrong. Google trends state by state shows that Adam was more popular than Kris in Wisconsin and in every state other than Arkansas during the month of May. Google trends also shows that Adam's trending started to peak the night of the final and Kris did not move up until the next day when Arkansas stole Adam's victory. The Data on the fan sites shows that Adam has had ten times more traffic since day one. Adam was slowed down by Kris' cheating state but he will be a superstar and Kris will be back in local bars.
Kris is a very nice, laid back guy. Unfortunately, he’s leaking personality, passion and style. As an artist, he’s the definition of mediocrity.
Adam Lambert was born talented, smart, gorgeous, charismatic and a beautiful personality. It is a great pleasure to see and listen to him as often as possible: he fills your heart and soul with joy of life and provides sweet dreams.

kris' single is doing very well and of course it's outselling Adam's, it's been out for two months longer.. Adam seems to be an album seller whereas kris is a single seller. Both are doing well though and hopefully will continue to do well.

I not sure about the rest of the country, but in Minnesota, Kris Allen has gotten plenty of air play, much more than Adam Lambert. Kris would be played once every 2 - 3 hours, Adam 1 - 2 times a day. I would request Adam's song every now and then just to see if they were playing it. But after the Oprah show, now finally is Adam getting as many spins as Kris. It must be a perk of winning idol to get so many spins. I hope Adam gets higher on the charts, he has so much to offer.

When people point out that Arkansas cheated it is not "negativity" it is the truth. When people suggest that Kris is no more talented then the average guy singing in a coffee house it is not "negativity" it is the truth. Just because Adam is gracious and says Kris has talent does not mean Kris has talent it just means that Adam is nice, just like Paula was when she was a judge. The honest one, Simon, did not think Kris was a good singer. Seacrest said Simon is leaving Idol because of Adam. I guess Simon did not like the cheating because it damaged the credibility of the show when a no talent like Kris won.

The problem I have with Kris is that I do not believe that he should benefit from cheating. There were other contestants that he knocked out like Adam, Danny, Allison, Anoop and Matt that are more talented than he is. It makes no difference to me that there is "room" for more than one artist I will never get over that Arkansas cheated the others. I do not want to be reminded of the travesty by having to see or hear the little man with the little voice.

No, it is not the "truth" in anyone's minds except for a handful of delusional "fans" who really need to let it go and move on with their lives. There is NO evidence that the voting was anything but fair. Unless you can provide actual PROOF that the voting was manipulated in Kris Allen's favor, stop spreading these malicious rumors. If there was any cheating involved, the FCC or some investigative reporter would have uncovered it by now. There are all kinds of federal regulations that were written in the wake of the quiz show scandals of the 1950's. The fact that NO ONE has come forward to invalidate the results of last year's Idol finale should be evidence enough that there WAS NO CHEATING. It isn't fair to Kris Allen, who has done nothing wrong himself. Oh -- and who is soon going to have a platinum-selling single on his hands (LLWD has sold nearly 700,000 copies). By continuing to whine that he somehow cheated just makes you look like bitter idiots. GROW UP ALREADY.
