This week for Adam Lambert on the "American Idol" singles chart, it looks to be yet another week of success for "Whataya Want From Me" -- even if new single "If I Had You" still isn't making too much of a major footprint.
According to the latest numbers from USA Today, Adam's second single off of "For Your Entertainment" pushed 24,000 copes sold in the past week, a decrease of 24% but still enough for the singer to hang on at #2 on the chart. The top-selling "Idol" alum for this week was (no surprise) Carrie Underwood, who continues to dominate with "Undo It" (which could very well become her best mainstream hit since "Before He Cheats"). In total, "Whataya Want From Me" has been purchased 1.3 million times.
So when can we start to see "If i Had You" creeping its way up the charts? While the music video release will certainly help carry the song to a larger audience, one of the major setbacks it faces is that the majority of diehard Adam fans already have it on the album. So really, we are looking at a situation here where music television and the radio will drive everything forward.

sorry, Matt, but if you really think that having If I Had You on the album already will not help bust the single, then you don't really know how dedicated Adam fans are!! :) It'll do great, I know it, as it is a gorgeous piece of music!!
There is no good reason for radio stations, w/ the appropriate format obviously, to not be playing IIHY at this point. It is a great summer good time vibe song and it is CERTAINLY better than the very less than stellar new song by Enrique Iglasias that is getting decent spins!!! Don't mean to dis other artists, but that Iglasias song is just the perfect example of a just okay song getting good airplay right off the bat when Lambert can't even catch a few spins from some stations who have playlists very in keeping w/ the IIHY. Frustrating. But kudos to Providence's 92 ProFM ( within Boston & Suburbs too) for playing it!! I've always been a fan of them - but I dial dance of course, hop around between stations, like most listeners do, but I'm keeping my dial tuned into Pro FM, thanks guys! And yes, I already owned IIHY on cd and from downloading the album on my iPod, but guess what, I downloaded it on another household/family member's iPod too, because I use that iPod too, win/win!

I think IIHY single was around #73 on Itunes/Pop earlier this afternoon. Not bad. Good for Lambert...the dude is crazy talented. And the Tour vids - amazing, and I'm not even that huge of a fan... or at least I wasn't before.
IIHY will eventually climb the charts...it just takes time. WWFM took a while too at first and then it seemed to steadily climb. Just give IIHY some time. It's a great song and I think it will do great.

All I have to say is play more adam lambert's music in southwest fla. Never hear it at all. WHY??: No wonder his glamnation tour is not coming to Fla. Get on board people! Sorry to say we are such a republican conserative state, I should move back to MA , at least they acknowledge this wonderful talent for what it is!!!

I'm starting to hear 'If I Had You' played a little bit more on the radio, but not as much as it should be. No one will know about this fun song if it isn't played. I'm hoping vh1 will put the video on 'Top Twenty Countdown' this Saturday between 9a.m., and 11a.m. this weekend. Everyone who likes Adam should start voting for the video to get it on. The video is so much fun, and Adam looks gorgeous in it. I hope the radio stations in Michigan will take advatage of the fact that Adam is bringing his 'Glamnation' tour here three times. We are so lucky to have this opportunity to see Adam three times. His popularity is so good for our economy, and Michigan needs that more than ever. To see Adam perform live is an experience you'll never forget. He is one of the most dynamic performers of our time.

WWFM is on the same album and sales continue to be strong. So I can't see why there should be any different rationale with IIHY. Charts/sales are highly dependent on radio play. WWFM was slow to get nationwide airplay but once it did it took off and has held strong. I think its a simple matter of WWFM having not run its chart course and once (not if) IIHY recieves more airplay it too will follow the path of WWFM.
"IF I HAD YOU" WILL CATCH ON. LIKE ADAM SAID, ONCE HE'S IN HE OWNS YOUR HEART. I LOVE THE SONG. IT STAYS IN YOUR HEAD A WHILE AFTER YOU HEAR ADAM SING IT. AND, THE VIDEO IS A BLAST!!
I'd love to hear this song when I listen to the radio.It is great fun. Adam's videos are terrific entertainment too. And he is outstanding on his tour. Adam is a magnificent entertainer and a spectacular singer. The radio stations are owned by a monopoly R wing conservative entity but to be successful they need to have listeners and we want Adam on the radio to listen to.Make us happy.

The song will rise. It is just at the beginning stages. Heck, on my local stations they are playing WWFM, IIHY and FYE. But that is in Canada, not the US. Before the video came out IIHY was at #57 on Itunes Pop and now it's at #27. I can't wait until they add the video to Itunes. Meanwhile, I vote for the song and request it on my stations.
If I had you is great, fun, it was one of my favs on the album from the beginning, will vote for and request it,,, and yes, I am a dedicated diehard, etc,etc. Adam fan, love the video as well.
ADAM's IIHY video is being featured on VH1 TV 'Gung Ho' video during the Jump Start programming every morning between 6AM-10AM EST. Have seen it 3 or 4x already & it is really SPECTACULAR on TV. The colors are clearer & brighter & the fast paced scenes are easier to distinguish ADAM's friends ... unlike the somewhat distorted videos online! Check it out!!
I am also attending Adam's concert in Tampa on 9/18. He's gonna rock my world that night for sure.
