ABC's 'Lost' spent $228 million in filming

In the span of four years, ABC's "Lost" spent a pretty penny in filming their hit show in Hawaii. According to the latest reports from the Honolulu Advertiser, the show spent $228 million production from 2006-09. They employed 973 people during that time, and the network likely received approximately more than $32 million in tax credits.

These tax credits mean one thing for the future of television in Hawaii: some more shows may be on the way. In order to cut costs, a number of shows choose alternate locations for filming. For example, many shows set in New York in Los Angeles actually film in Canada.

For "Lost," Hawaii just so happens to be perfect since the show is set on an island rooted in mythology. The state has a special place in the heart of many of the show's cast and crew, especially now as they ramp up for the grand finale on May 23.
