"The Real Housewives of Orange County" season five had an explosive start on the Nov. 5, 2009 premiere.
The minute the housewives got in the same room for Lynne's jewelry show things got out of hand. Tensions were high between Gretchen and Tamra, and even though the other women tried to make jokes to break that tension, nothing was stopping the words those women had built up inside.
It all started when Jeana mentioned apologies, and Gretchen said that not everyone at the table knew how to apologies. Tamra, who knew Gretchen was talking only about her, told the table if she had something to apologize about, then she would apologize. Gretchen tried to make it seem like she wasn't just talking about Tamra, but Tamra was not backing down. Tamra really started throwing mud first, bringing up Jay and the inappropriate pictures of Gretchen plastered all over the Internet. Tamra told the table Gretchen always plays the victim and prays on old men, and she said she could no longer believe a word out of her mouth. Gretchen honestly seemed hurt that Tamra would believe Jay over her.
Just as things seemed like they had boiled over enough, the screen went black with the words "To be continued..." This can only mean one glorious thing: the good stuff is coming next week!
Quick housewife highlights
Here are some things you'll need to know about the housewives going in to season five, although I'm sure what you read now won't be true by the end.
- Gretchen is still mourning over the loss of Jeff. She said she thinks about him everyday and misses him terribly. She admits she made some bad choices in her life but is trying to turn things around. She has currently been seen around with Slade, who used to date housewives Jo and Laurie.
- Jeana's income has taken a big hit due to a poor real estate market, and she is having to downsize her lifestyle.
- Tamra and Simon have been fighting a lot. Their relationship is going over a lot of speed bumps right now, many of which seem to have to do with money.
- Lynne's jewelry business is doing really well. Her pieces are being sold in a lot of high-end boutiques and department stores, and she even has buyers over seas.
- Lynne and Tamra are great friends now.
- Jeana and Vicki are not great friends now. Vicki says the reason they aren't speaking is because Vicki wouldn't loan Jeana money and stopped calling after she said no, even though they live two doors from one another. Jeana says that Vicki and her don't speak anymore because, even though she knew Jeana was having a hard time with her business, Vicki still switched to another real estate agent.

Tamra and Vicki make me sick they think there s**t don't stink.Who gave Tamra the right to air peoples business on the show has went to hell in a hand basket. All the cool women are gone or leaving if that how life is with MONEY I am glade I live pay check to pay check. Because it just make me sick I don't even like the show now I have never missed a season but I guess THE HOUSE WIVES OF OC SUCK now.................................................................
Tamra is so obviously jelous of Gretchen is not even funny. FIrst of who gaves Tamra the right to say something so derrogatory about Gretchen? Tamra is just an old piece of white trash who thinks nobody is better than her but her actitude speaks for it self. Tamra needs to pay close attention to her son and husband and leave Gretchen alone, she is a beautiful young woman who happens to be smart and a human being with the right to make mistakes. I bet a dime on Tamra that she made poor choices when she was young... Tamra if you see this "YOU ARE OLD, NASTY, UGLY AND LOW CLASS"
WOW….this use to be my favorite group, but after watching last night show now I am not sure. Drama, drama, drama! It was sad and hard to watch this. With the way our economy is now and to watch these women talk about face lifts, 600.00 lunches…really. I am not living paycheck to paycheck but after watching these “ladies” makes me happy that I have what I have, happy husband, great kids and great friends. Come on ladies, get your properties together and remember money come and goes, friends may do the same…but in the end, what is left is the person looking back at you in the mirror - this group is not someone I would want to be…good bye OC and I really wish you all luck….and after last night show looks like you will need it.
i agree, this used to be my favorite of the housewives series, but after watching the first episode, i am not so sure anymore either. I was hoping gretchen would come back this season full of confidence and be more sparkling and beautiful then ever just to spite that horrible, rotten, old, jealous tamra! Gretchen is still by far the attractive one of the bunch!! I hope gretchen punches the witch tamra in the face soon, because she so deserves it and btw who is tamra to judge anyone? Tamra is always talking trash and full of sexual innuendos all the time very crude and oddly conceited.
Cant stomach tamra or vickie They Make My Skin Crawl! jeanna and gretchen are the only reasons i watch this show at all anymore.
that is so typical that haggard vickie would turn her nose up at jeanna at the first sign of money troubles, what a creep vickie is! I hope vickie is audited and criminally investigated for all the money she is so obviously embezzling. Tamra makes me sick, too. Sad that jeanna is leaving, doesnt this show pay these women very well for each appearance, tho? absolutely love Gretchen and hope those old hags dont get her down.
