'American Idol' recap: Katelyn Epperly, Todrick Hall, Alex Lambert, Lilly Scott eliminated Week 3

Katelyn Epperly, Todrick Hall, Alex Lambert and Lilly Scott were eliminated from "American Idol" season nine on the March 11, 2010 live results show.

To say that these results were shocking is a complete understatement! I can kind of understand Alex leaving and maybe even Lilly leaving but sending Todrick and Katelyn home, especially Todrick, makes absolutely no sense to me. I loved Todrick's Queen performance on Wednesday, and I was really looking forward to what else he would bring to the stage. I really will miss him.

When put up against Lee Dwyze, judge Randy Jackson made it clear who was going home. He said Lee over Todrick really deserved to be in the Top 12, even though Todrick had made a nice comeback the previous night. I guess it was too little too late.

Katelyn was the first eliminated, and she was brought on stage with Paige Miles to learn the pair's fate. Simon said that between the two of them, Paige had more potential than Katelyn. I'm still shocked that America went for Paige over Katelyn, though, because Paige did so poor during this week's performance.

The contestants seemed to have a hard time seeing Alex and Lilly go, and Lilly made a good point after she was eliminated. She said that, based on who was going home, she didn't know what America wanted. What do you want America? You're keeping people like Siobhan Magnus and Crystal Bowersox but getting rid of more contemporary artists like Alex Lambert. Perhaps, America is tired of the more contemporary, pop idols that the show has produced in previous years.

Also during the one-hour live results show, former "American Idol" contestants Scott MacIntyre and Matt Giraud returned to perform a Billy Joel classic.
