Billy Mays at his Palm Harbor, FL home
On June 28, 2009, Billy Mays was found dead by his wife in his Tampa, FL home. He passed sometime in his sleep and the cause of death is unknown at this time. Billy had mentioned to his wife that he had not felt well before going to bed. The day before he had mentioned to the local Tampa TV station that he had been hit in the head with an object during a rough US Airways flight landing. It is unclear weather Mays' death was related to this incident.

He'd also been recently seen in commercials for ESPN, promoting their on line service, ESPN360. He also spent time promoting college football bowl games for ESPN and ABC.
On April 15, 2009, the Discovery Channel began airing a new program staring Anthony Sullivan and Mays called Pitchmen. The documentary style program followed the two pitchmen in their current jobs.
