On Monday night, NBC's Trauma debuted episode 1 of its adrenaline pumping new drama series.
If you missed any moment of Trauma, or want to relive it again, be sure to check out episode 1 in its entirety below.
Trauma could easily be seen as an over-the-top drama, a Michael Bay-esque take on a medical-rescue unit in the heart of San Francisco.
It does have that element, to be sure. Helicopters explode and explosions ensue, all to the simultaneous delight and horror of the audience at home.
Where Trauma succeeds, at least in episode 1, is that it's able to humanize its weary characters in similar fashion to what ER did to its team of trained, good-looking doctors. That's a key necessity in any drama series, but for a drama that aims to make medical-rescue a popcorn-like summer blockbuster, it's all the more vital.
The cast is likeable and up to the task. Cliff Curtis, Aimee Garcia, and the underrated Derek Luke have frenetic chemistry.
Trauma may not be the most realistic show. Similar in vein to Prison Break, one watching Trauma realizes that the circumstances surrounding the characters is outlandish from the time the opening credits roll. That doesn't stop a series from being engaging and exhilarating, however, and Trauma certainly succeeds in what it aims to be.
