Marc Lamont Hill, the African-American, left-leaning pundit who was often featured on "The O'Reilly Factor" has been fired from Fox News Channel. Rupert Murdoch revealed his decision late last week to terminate Hill after a shareholder asked a question about how Hill was able to maintain his job, stating Hill had a "reputation of defending cop killers and racists."
Hill has drawn fire from both the conservative base and some Internet communities for defending people such as Assata Shakur and Mumia Abu-Jamal. In 1981, Abu-Jamal was convicted and originally sentenced to death for the 1981 murder of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner. To this day, some people feel Abu-Jamal was unjustly prosecuted for the crime.
Marc Lamont Hill is a nationally syndicated columnist. Hill's work can be read weekly in Metro Newspapers. Rupert Murdoch is the chairman of News Corporation, the parent company of Fox News.

Marc was intellectually stimulating and could go toe to toe with Bill O'Reilly. He and Bill seemed to respect each other and would acknowledge when one had a valid point. People like him were one of the main reasons one could argue their mantra of "Fair and Balanced". I think everything is extreme now with scrutiny on what a person said or did years ago. Who among us hasn't believed one way and either through maturity or thinking from a different perpective changed our position. And if Marc believed in whatever position he took in this issue and still believes it, I trust in his judgement enough based on what I have heard and seen of this man. So FOX your loss and I hope he is soon someone else's great find!!!!
Why fire Hill? I definitely agree that most of his theories were loony and his propaganda could have been pulled from any Obama administration website, but when he would go toe to toe with O'Reilly, they would both find a way to make valid points. I can't remember a time I agreed with Hill's position, though it likely occurred, but that's what the O'Reilly Factor is about, all sides of the argument, even the crazy, whacked out side.
As for Hill, himself, I don't much care where he lands as I won't follow him to any other channel, but he has already left MSNBC and CNN so where else does he have to go? He's not good on his own because no one would challenge him on any other channel. That's why he was so good on FOX because that's all they do, on their opinion shows, is challenge people.
Now Fox can hire a more convincing liberal shill.
