Joseph Gordon-Levitt helped energize SNL after last week's uninspired January Jones hosted episode.
The opening monologue featured Gordon-Levitt paying homage to Donald O'Connor's performance of "Make 'Em Laugh" from "Singin' in the Rain." Gordon-Levitt went all out for the performance, complete with back flips.
Following the monologue, SNL debuted a new trailer for the disaster flick "2012." This time, however, the doomsday movie premise involved Sarah Palin becoming President of the United States, with Fox News' Glenn Beck as her vice president.
Al Gore also stopped by Saturday Night Live, claiming that he's a "popular vote guy" on Weekend Update with Seth Meyers. He then went on to say that he plans to "out-crazy the crazies" in order to get politicians to become genuinely concerned about climate crisis. Gore then revealed his plan to plant trees in the yards of politicians.
"And tape toy guns to the branches pointed to the doors so when they wake up and walk out of their houses in the morning they'll think it's the forests coming to get their revenge," he said.

Does anyone remember Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the (unfortunately) shortlived '90s revival of "Dark Shadows"? He was a dead ringer for the original actor David Hennessy who played yound David Collins! Fortunately for Mr. Gordon-Levitt, his career is way outlasting that show!
