Actress Rue Mcclanahan, best known for her role in the sitcom Golden Girls, was hospitalized with heart trouble on Thursday. The 75-year-old actress had planned on attending an event in her honor titled "Golden: A Gala Tribute to Rue Mcclanahan" at San Francisco's Castro Theatre.
Doctors have requested that Mcclanahan remain in the hospital until her health improves.
Not wanting to leave her fans in the dark, the woman best known as Blanche Devereaux released a statement:
"My darlings, I'm just devastated that I am going to have to miss my own tribute at the Castro Theatre. Unfortunately, my doctor has laid down the law, and I'm currently having some maintenance on the old ticker. Trust me, I'd much rather be in San Francisco having fun and being adored by all of you."
