It was big night for Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson at the American Music Awards. Taylor Swift dominated the show with 5 awards. Swift appearing via satellite from a concert hall in London, accepted awards for Pop/Rock Female Artist, Country Female Artist, Adult Contemporary Artist, her crossover album “Fearless” won for Country Album, and she beat out Michael Jackson for Artist of the Year. After being awarded Artist of the Year, 19 year old Taylor Swift said in her acceptance speech,

To even be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson, who we will miss and love forever, is an unimaginable honor.

When accepting for his brother Michael, Jermaine Jackson gave thanks his family and fans. Stellar performances and shocking stunts

Among the some of the night’s most awesome performances was the opening number by Janet Jackson. Jackson performed songs that highlighted her career as an artist. All of the songs Janet Jackson performed on the show are on her new greatest hits album called “Number Ones”. The choreography for her performance was a mix of classic Janet moves with some mild Michael Jackson influences.

Jenifer Lopez took to the stage in a championship boxer theme which included a ring and announcer. As part of the performance, Lopez walked on the backs of the dancers and was suppose to jump off of one of the dancers and land on the floor. Things don’t always go the way you rehearse them. Lopez jumped off of her background dancer and landed behind first to the floor. Being the professional that she is Lopez immediately jumped up and continued with the performance as if it was part of the act.

The Black Eyed Peas gave a spectacular performance. The group sang Boom Boom Pow and Meet Me Half Way. Fergie, Taboo and Apl.de.ap were dressed in black leather while Will.i.am was draped n a white leather jacket with white rimmed shades. The Black Eyed Peas ended their performance with an intense pyrotechnic, laser and light finale.

Rihanna took to the stage in a revealing outfit that looked as if she had been wrapped in white bandages. The skin tight suit gave the illusion that her body was covered in strategically placed white bands. Her neck was tattooed with “Rated R” the title of her new album.

The other performance that will have people talking is the shocking number delivered by American idol runner up Adam Lambert. In a very sexually themed performance, Adam Lambert simulated a sex act with one of the male dancers. It was one among a few things that Lambert did during his performance that was meant to shock viewers. On Monday’s “The View”, Whoopi Goldberg explained that ABC television would not allow them to show that performance because it was inappropriate for daytime television. Barbara Walters balked at the notion that something that can be shown at night can’t be re broadcast on daytime TV. She called ABC’s decision “Absurd.” The American Music Awards were broadcast on ABC. Lambert made a statement just days before, defending his performance saying,

There are a lot of double standards as far as that goes… We've seen female pop and rock performers do that for the last 10 years. They've been very provocative, owning their power and sexuality. You just don't see men doing it very often. And I'm hoping to break down that double standard with this number.

Adam Lambert, often compared to the flamboyant Freddie Mercury could be turning his music persona to that of a shock rocker.

You gotta be kidding me. Folks really got their panties all in a flurry over that? So some guy pretended to do oral sex to a fully dressed Lambert. You are going to tell me I wasn't suppose to get that same impression from the male dancer kneeling in front of Janet Jackson before she grabbed his crotch and then bent him over. Or the female singer who was dangling a silver heart just above her crotch. She had a male dancer kneeling right in front of her crotch and I guess I'm suppose to ignore that the women did it and get all upset because Adam did it like a dude. Whatever!

MJ received the Artist of the Millennium Award at the 2000 World Music Awards in Monaco. If MJ had a chance to be on stage just for a few of his 2009 concerts, there would not have been any doubt who the Artist of the Year would have been. Just a reminder, if anyone questions MJ's talent, take a minute to check out all the awards and recognitions he has received globally over the years. Warning: Get ready for a shocker. "What more can" be said?

Bow to your puritan masters! It's ok to start wars for profit, execute citizens and leave the working-class in poverty, but God forbid a guy kiss another guy. How dare Lambert defy the Bible-beaters?

Why didn't you highlight Michael's awards like you did with Taylor's??? You are all too happy to say she beat him, she DIDN'T DESERVE IT. She is not a great artist ( let's keep it real!!!). If she was ugly or fat no one would care about her, and she is fake! Michael Jackson is THE KING FOREVER, the GREATEST!

I am glad Adam nasty ass concert has been cancelled for the morning show, glad to know there are still some programs who know what decency is. Why do you Fools believe just because a girls do the same thing to a guy it is ok or when Madonna and Britney kissed it was ok? I don't think so the same people complaining about "in your face" nasty gay Adam complained about them. You must have forgotten the scene with Janet Jackson and the uproar about that. Indecent, vulgar performances are just that indecent and vulgar that's why you have HBO and Cable, it is unacceptable for gay Adam to try and force his no good gay acts on those who are watching hoping not to be offended. I hope Jermaine dump his vulgar ass off of the "Michael Jackson" appreciation "Dot portrait" program/ Michael had enough controversy figures(some forcing themselves upon him) in his life when he was alive, as a fan of his who loves him dearly I want the controversy, vulgar fools to stay out of anything to do with him.

Taylor can thank Kanye for her awards. She is not that talented. As for Adam's performance, I personally didn't care for it, but I support his right to be just as nasty, vulgar, and raunchy as Shakira and her dancers were, humping their female anatomies in people's faces. THAT was disgusting to me. And Paula, learn to speak before you rant. I can't understand a damned thing in your post. I'm glad to know that shows "know what decency is," but it's very saddening that there are so many who don't know the English language.
