Appearing on TruTV and NBC's Today Show, Jose Baez, Andrea Lyon and Linda Kenney Baden say meter-reader Roy Kronk--who led authorities to the eventual discovery of Caylee Anthony's remains--is "as much a suspect as anyone" in the murder for which her mother, Casey, is accused, and that even if her counselors "ruffle a few feathers in the process," they will "give [their] client the best defense [they] can."
Speaking with Matt Lauer on "Today," Andrea Lyon, a death penalty defense lawyer and Anthony team attorney, stated, "There is as much circumstantial evidence implicating Roy Kronk as there is implicating our client."
Lyon told Lauer, "[Roy Kronk] is the only one who magically discovered [some remains]. He takes a day off before he discovers it in December."
As originally reported in The Orlando Sentinel, after a series of 3 calls by Kronk to police, Orange County law enforcement found the skull of Caylee Anthony on Dec. 11, 2008.
In the 11/20 Orlando Sentinel, Walter Pacheco reports that "Anthony's defense attorneys deposed Kronk on Thursday [Nov. 19, 2009] at the State's Attorney's Office," adding, Kronk is "a key witness in the upcoming trial against Casey Anthony."
Later on the same day, during an interview with TruTv's Vinnie Politan, Anthony lead attorney Jose Baez stated, "We will fully investigate each and every witness," while adding, "two [of Kronk's ] ex-wives who don't even know each other" have related instances of Kronk's violence and inappropriate acts.
In the interview, Anthony's lawyers noted that Kronk's son "actually states a month before Caylee Marie was found, [Kronk] called him and said he was 'going to be on TV.' "
Telling Politan, "We are not accusing Roy Kronk of this crime," Kenney Baden notes; "[the state's attorneys] did not even ask for Kronk's phone number," offering that so far, the case is "a pre-judgement" that "look[s] to Casey and no one else."
Adding, "Casey has been vilified in the media," Kenney Baden maintains; "all we are doing is investigating the case," that "the prosecution should do it."
Kronk, who according to the Sentinel has since been fired from his county job," " ... after failing to attend a disciplinary hearing related to excessive absenteeism after an injury at work," is cited in a statement included in records obtained by the newspaper, the records noting he "used up all his sick time and medical leave."
In vetting their witnesses, Baez reportedly told Lauer that "Orange County ... investigators did not look into Kronk's past."
Alluding to unknowns via skullduggery--assorted mysteries surrounding the defense's theory-burdoned case--when describing Kronk's discovery of Caylee's skull, Kenney Baden pointed to "suspicious circumstances" in "a grand coincidence of finding the body."
"We are not trying to vilify Kronk," Kenney Baden insists, while citing "certain previous behaviors" exhibited by the deposed state's witness.
Kronk, alleges defense lawyers, reportedly has been cited in separate depositions by "two ex-wives who don't even know each other."
Forensic science-oriented lawyer Kenney Baden, who for a time represented now-convicted Phil Spector during his murder trial, references the meter reader's alleged inappropriate behavior," then shifts focus, pointing to state's attorneys' "rush to judgment" and "tunnel vision."
"They should have been [investigating others] for us! " Kenney Baden insists on today's TruTV interview.
The primary crime scene investigation site--the dumping ground to where Kronk led police--was in an uncleared area located a half-mile from the Anthony residence.
After Orange County CSI recovered the skull, other bones associated with the scattered, partial remains were found, along with various items, including a syringe allegedly containing chloroform.
The deadly chemical, implicated by the prosecution in the toddler's death, can be made using simple house-cleaning supplies, including bleach--and nail polish remover, or spot cleaner: common household items that often containing acetone. The chloroform connection to Caylee's murder--which prompted forensic scientists to examine Casey's car trunk, as well as to look for evidence of the toxic chemical in items found along with Caylee's remains--aired after the forensic examination of a home computer Casey frequently accessed that contained history links on "how to make chloroform."
In efforts to mask Casey's previous bad acts, her defense team has gone on record previously, claiming that a "Richard Kimball-type person" killed Caylee, amending original defense claims that "Zanny the Nanny" is responsible for the homicide.
Such tactics among criminal lawyers are common. Termed the "spaghetti defense," or, throw everything against a wall and see what sticks, a variation of this approach, aiming to divert negative attention and suspicion from a client, is dubbed the "SODDI," or "some other dude did it" defense.
Opposite defense team statements, referencing the meter reader now caught up in the latest tangle of Casey Anthony case reports, The Orlando Sentinel notes authorities "have said Kronk was never a suspect and is not linked to the Anthony family."

It is amazing that Baez and his team can come up with some of the most ridiculous ideas. Do they lie awake at night and think this silliness up or is it a natural for them? I am sure the prosecution has done as much if not more investigating than they have and if there were not grounds to try Casey, they wouldn't. Circumstantial or not, the evidence points to nobody but Casey. As well as the fact, Kronk was not out partying for a month and cele brating the good life. He did a good deed and is now slapped in the face.
Hopefully Kronk will sue CBS over the headline they used yesterday... It read " Roy Kronk killed Caylee Anthony" . I almost fell out of my chair when I saw it... He does a good deed and this is how he is rewarded .. Sort of glad now that I wasn't the one that found the body !! All the evidence points toward Casey and her car ! They are desparate to try and get a hung jury and this is just their dumb attempt to do so.. Watch the full video of his ex telling about the ordeal in Maryland and she is clearly searching for words and not telling the truth .unfortunatley Kronk as some vindictive relatives . He may not be perfect but he definately is NOT guilty.
Baez said from day one that we will know the truth at trial. This was before Roy Kronk even found the body. What happened to that "truth"? It is a shame Mr. Kronk is being put through this. I think anyone that has followed this case knows that Casey did it. How stupid does Baez think we are? Kronk killed Caylee and then put her in Casey's car???? Someone that he did not even know??? Come on.
I wonder how much they paid these people to speak out against Kronk. I mean come on, it's very interseting that nobody came forward with this information against Kronk before now. So, what were they promised or giving to speak out against him now instead of earlier. Say like almost a year ago. Smells like a rat to me...Bozo and his whole team!
This is completely laughable. Who are they gonna blame next? Santa Claus. Believe me, if they don't it would fly, the Duh-fense team would do it. And I don't believe one iota that SINdy and Georgette didn't know that Baez and team were gonna try to throw reasonable doubt on Kronk. SINdy tried to tie Kronk to create reasonable doubt in some of the emails between her and so called PI Dominic Casey that the state released to the public a while back. And now she wants the public to believe she doesn't want the dirt brought up on Kronk. Gimme a break. Bottom line, baby killer Casey will be found guilty and spend the rest of her life in prison, if she is lucky. Simple as that. v
I think Cindy,George or Lee will be the next to blame. Maybe the great grandpa did it!!!!!
Sad that Bozo thinks the people of Florida are insane to actually believe their bologna
I think I get it. At first I wondered how the more experienced attorneys would do something this ridiculous....blaming Kronk. It just seemed too stupid for words. But, the only explanation I can fathom is that they are secretly trying to ruin Baez. They may be undercover enemies. What else could it be? This recent thing is beyond stupid. They seem to forget that we are all potential jurors. We see this insanity - it is headlines. Baez is dumb enough, but I thought the others were real 'sharp shooters' how can they keep a straight face? There has to be an underlying agenda to really hurt Jose's reputation in Florida. Everything they say is not believed by ANYONE, don't they GET IT? I hope Roy Kronk sues them - I hope the public rises up against this Scheme Team. IF they just acted like normal lawyers, it would work in their favor. Maybe. Casey is sunk no matter what, like Scott Peterson was. Nothing is going to work. They need to stop the $$$ and time waste of the court and state
Sad that Bozo thinks the people of Florida are insane to actually believe their bologna
Can Kronk sue for slander...defamation of character? He should hire Zanny's lawyer! First Casey destroys lives, and now the defense team is doing the same thing. The Anthony's should be happy that after 6 months someone found their precious grandaughters remains. Makes me sick.
Did Kronk do the computer searches inside the Anthony home? Did he go into the house and get the winnie the pooh blanket she was found with?
Cyn, I agree 100%! Even though Kronk's ex-wives didn't know each other, they had one common connection-the person they both sold out to!!!!! The defense speaks of how the prosecution has "tunnel vision", well please tell me how any sane person can believe anyone other than Casey Anthony killed Caylee?????? The coldhearted woman has sat through one court hearing after another, not to mention the initial tv shots (where Baez had to hug on her all the time) without shedding a tear for her 2 yr. old baby, only for her rotten self!!!! Why insult our intelligence this way?? The first and largest nail in Casey's coffin is the fact that it took 31 days for Caylee to be reported missing, and then only by Cindy Anthony. Oh, and to the defense, we still haven't gotten about the silhouette outline of a child's body in Casey's car trunk, not to mention the remainder of the mountain of circumstantial evidence pointing directly to Casey Anthony. JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE!!!!!!
I know one thing that monster will be found guilty, and that defense team can blame anyone they want to but we as a people know better, I do believe that most of us just want justicwe for Caylee, NOT CASEY SHE DID IT JUST LIKE SCOTT PETERSON, AND ALL THE REST OF THE TRASH. STOP WASTING OUR TAX PAYER DOLLARS ON THIS MURDERER CASY ANTHONY, SEE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THIS SHE ALONE COMMITTED THIS HORRIBLE ACT AGAINST HER DAUGHTER ENOUGH!!!! GAS HER.
I cannot wait to see whos next in this saga, I think that eventually Cindy, George, and Lee will be put under the gun watch this defense team is a joke, and I hope all of you see this clearly they are playing the oldest trick in the book, just put a little doubt on someone else that all so my murdering client can go free to maybe kill another child of hers someday. JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE.
