EL Paso--A bank robber dubbed the "Bird Flu Bandit" held up the El Paso Federal Employees Credit Union at 10:15 a.m. on August 16.
The subject entered the bank at 9305 North Loop, where he displayed a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money, which he received and placed in a gray plastic grocery bag.
In an August 16 press release, FBI El Paso states: "[the robber ordered] tellers to get on the ground and [then] left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash."
This is the city's 14th bank robbery of the year, says the FBI.
The "Bird Flu Bandit" is believed to have committed two other robberies, including a May 21, 2010 robbery at the same bank (the city's sixth robbery), and a third robbery (El Paso's eighth) on June 24, 2010 at First Savings Bank, 909 North Mesa..
In all three robberies, the suspect (pictured) wore some type of mask or bandana to cover his mouth.
Subject description:

- about 5'10" to 6' tall, with thin build
- spoke only in Spanish

The FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force, which includes the El Paso Police Department and El Paso Sheriff's Department is working the case.

always amazes me how some reporters can get so much information within a small spacing, and yet have the article be interestingly written versus mere "agenda" form--- but---- with her talents as a photo/journalist, Ivy always seems to accomplish this -- and more---- thanks for having her on your team--
