Both Australia and the UK have announced their plans for hosting True Blood conventions and now U.S. Trubies will also have a chance to indulge their fangdom as well! Info on a Las Vegas vampire con entitled VAMP was released earlier this week on the Huffington News website. The previous Twilight-centric convention TwiCon will, during its second year of existence, host a pair of conferences, visiting Toronto June 24-27, 2010, and then taking on Las Vegas July 28-Aug. 1, 2010. TwiCon has expanded beyond the Twilight world to encompass True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and the popular book series Black Dagger Brotherhood.
From the True Blood cast Sam Trammell, who has become quite the familiar face on the vampire convention circuit, has been confirmed as a guest. Also confirmed is Season 3's leading werewolf Joe Manganiello. Additional guest announcements have been promised in the weeks to come.
2009's event in Dallas, which was solely focused on the Twilight franchise, reportedly attracted over 3,000 ravenous fans and was covered by pop culture media outlets such as MTV, Reelz Channel and Seventeen Magazine. The Las Vegas event is expected to attract even more fans now that it has expanded to include all of the current popular vampire shows and series. Taking place at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, organizers have promised True Blood fans mixers based on True Blood’s Fangtasia night club, cast Q&As from True Blood, breakout sessions and concerts by fan favorites.
“I’m excited to expand our offerings to encompass a broader audience,” said Becky Scoggins, managing partner of the TwiCon event. “Our attendees will meet thousands of other fans who enjoy the same entertainment, and the opportunities to see the cast, attend concerts and hang out at so many parties is a vacation no vampire lover would want to miss.”
Tickets are currently available for purchase through the TwiCon website and range from $239 to $399. Day passes are also available. For more information visit www.twicon.org.
