The 2010 Duathlon World Championship took place this past weekend in Edinburgh, Scotland. Minnesota's own David Thompson was representing the US at this race.
There were many races going on: paraduathlon, age group, junior, elite, and U23. The junior, U23, and elite races were draft legal on one of the most challenging courses ever picked for an ITU Duathlon World Championship - there were tough climbs that came up a number of times on a multiple-loop course.
Thompson, along with all the elites, competed through a 10K run, a 38.4K bike (23.9 miles), and a final 5K run. Thompson was the second US athlete to hit the finish line, and the provisional results show that he finished 16th in the world, about 5 minutes behind the winner.
