Some airline designers think these stacked airplane seat configurations may be in our future

Some people can cram enough into a airplane carry on bag that with a little expansion, the overhead bin could actually become a passenger compartment. This concept  airplane seat design could actually be sold as an advantage as a 'lie-back' options since the seat back could recline and allow more legroom and movement. Add a privacy curtain and the mile-high club would explode with new members.

Short haul commuter air routes may find military style seating in the future

On the short haul commuter flights, passengers disembark from a train and embark to a shuttle and then embark on an airplane. Why should the seats look any different when you are spending 45 minutes in the air vs. 45 minutes on a train. This concept seating offers two grades of seating, with fold down table and without.

And the Ryan Air special... stand up while you fly. It's a concept, but for an airline like Ryan Air who wants to charge for using the toilet, asking passengers to ride standing up means those $10 airfares could suddenly become ultra-profitable as twice as many passengers can be seated using this concept.
