If you're looking for a relaxing pet-friendly beach getaway on the Atlantic coast, look no further than The Shores Resort and Spa located in Daytona Beach Shores, a quieter section of Daytona Beach just a few miles south from the hub of activity. This haven of calm soothes the senses as soon as you enter: the lobby and lounge areas are tastefully decorated with dark wood, there's plenty of sofas and comfortable chairs to lounge on, and classical music plays in the background. Further more, there is a beachfront pool, jacuzzi and a full-service spa which all help maintain the relaxing mood.
Azure, the resort's signature award-winning restaurant, serves healthy, and often organic, dishes for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The full menu is also available for room-service, which can be convenient when traveling with a pet. Dining is also available at The Azure Bar and at the beachfront and poolside Tiki Bar. For a quieter meal, private dining is also available in an oceanfront cabana, complete with butler service (sorry, no pets allowed!). In the evening, relax with your favorite libation around the oceanfront fire pits - s'mores kits are also available.
To really experience full relaxation at The Shores Resort and Spa, a visit to the Indulge Spa is a must. Try a hot-stone or a ritual Balinese massage, or truly indulge and get a full day spa package - both for individuals and for couples. Salon services such as manicures and pedicures, and facials are also available. You will leave feeling fresh and rejuvenated, and wanting for more - and best of all it won't break the bank. There is also a fitness center on property with multiple types of machines as well as free weights for those wanting to stay active during their stay. There is also the aforementioned oceanfront pool and a Jacuzzi.
The rooms at the resort are nicely decorated with good quality furniture and spacious balconies (available on some rooms). Each of the 212 rooms and suites features a four-poster bed (one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in at a hotel), a flat screen plasma tv, a DVD/CD player (with complimentary dvd rentals), a pull-out sofa, high speed internet access, a mini-bar, and an iHome ipod player. Suites are also available and come complete with a master bedroom with private terrace, a dining room and parlor and full-size microwaves and refrigerators. Views from the rooms are spectacular - either of the Atlantic Ocean or the Intracoastal Waterway. Our room was a Deluxe Oceanfront Balcony Guestroom with a king-sized bed - the view was great - over-looking the pool and ocean. Our dog had a great time sticking his nose between the bars on the balcony and sniffing the ocean air.
Dogs up to 50 lbs are allowed at The Shores. Cats and other pets are also welcome - there is even a repeat goose customer! Pets are allowed in all room types except the suites and the first floor lanais (which are located directly by the pool). There is a $25 pet fee per day and a deposit is required to cover damages to the room (refunded at departure). Pets are welcome in the lobby and elevators but must be on a leash or in a crate. They are not allowed in the restaurants, by the pool, on the beach (although there is a dog-friendly beach park not far from the hotel) or in other areas of the hotel. It is easy to walk your dog around the outside of the hotel and along A1A, just be sure to pick-up after your pet.
This boutique-style AAA Four Diamond hotel offers relaxed luxury for an affordable price - great for today's economy. There is no need to travel far to get away from it all - just head to The Shores Resort and Spa - only an hours drive from Orlando.
