Dr Phillips Dog Park - making friends through the fence
Dr P Phillips Community Park - Dog Park
We took our dog Bodie to his first-ever dog park the other day, and he LOVED every minute of it. He is 5 years old but grew up in Amsterdam where every park is dog-friendly -- too dog friendly. Dogs are allowed off the leash so dogs can run freely wherever they want. This is great for some, but not for those that a). will run away when of the leash, b). have owners that can't control their animals nor pay attention to what they are doing and c). dogs who are afraid of other dogs (i.e. Bodie - but we got attacked several times by our neighbors Boxer/Pit-Bull so he had reason to be scared).
The Dr. Phillips Community Park's Dog Park alleviates all the stress of taking our dog to the park, however. The dog park is separated into two sections - small dogs and large dogs. Our dog is small -- about 16 lbs (although he thinks he's much bigger) -- and the day we were there he had the whole small dog area to himself. He loved being able to play fetch outdoors, and there was plenty of room for him to run around.

Don't worry - there's also an area for Large Dogs Only!
The large dog area is about three times the size of the small dog area so there's plenty of room for even the largest of dogs. On the day we visited, there were two dogs in the large dog area who were getting along great. Bodie didn't even notice the largest dog that was in the large dog area, which is amazing. If it had been at a regular park, he would have barked his head off at him. But he was so content on playing fetch that nothing else mattered.
Besides the two enclosures, the dog park also has a dog wash area with a hose and drain so you can wash your dog off if they get too dirty playing in the grass. There are also human and dog water fountains on each side, as well as picnic tables within the enclosures.

The Dr Phillips Community Park also has some other cool features, like the Splash Pad water playground for kids, a fitness trail, a softball field, a basketball court and much more! There are also handy doggie doo bag areas scatted around which makes cleaning up after your pet very easy.
So if you are visiting the Orlando area, or live locally, I definitely recommend visiting Dr Phillips Community Park as its fun for the whole family!
