Nothing like a cold beer: Visit popular breweries within the United States

There are plenty of breweries in the US to choose from.

There is nothing quite like a beer on a hot summer's day.  Sure foreign beer is yummy but there are also many beer to enjoy close to home.  Check out the list of popular breweries within the US and make a trip before summer is over.

Anheuser-Busch Brewery

With Anheuser-Busch there are plenty of breweries that you can choose to visit.  Tours vary depending on each location, however rest assured you will get to sample the products.  The beermaster tour allows guests to visit the fermentation cellars, lager cellars, packaging facility and more.

Miller Coors

Miller Coors was created by two German entrepreneurs wo came to the US in the mid 19th century.  Frederick J. Miller settled in Milwaukee creating his first beer with yeast he brought over from Europe.  Adolph Coors stowed away on a ship to be able to enter the United States, after which he opened the Golden Brewery in Colorado.  MillerCoors now has many breweries, however only the Golden, CO and Milwaukee, WI breweries offer tours.  Visitors can visit the brewery to see the brewhouse, malthouse and packaging complex.

Boston Beer Company

The Boston Beer Company produces Samuel Adams.  Next time you are in Boston you can pay a visit to the Samuel Adams Brewery.  On the tours you will learn about the history of the beer, experience the brewing process, and then of course taste it.  The name Samuel Adams was chosen because he was a Bostonian and a revolutionary thinker, who also happened to brew beer.  The Sam Adams website also has a food and beer section where it guides you what beers go well with your favorite dishes.

D. G. Yuengling and Son Inc.

Founded in 1829 by David G. Yuengling, the company has been in the beer business for over 180 years.  This tour allows all ages to join along (although only those over 21 will be allowed to drink of course).  There are two locations:

Pottsville, PA
Tampa, FL

The have some rules for both facilities.  Closed shoes only (no flip flops or sandals).  Tour is not handicapped accessible.  Must call to make arrangements for big groups.

  

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company

Sierra Nevada Brewery brewed its first batch of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on November 15th, 1980.  Currently the brewery opens its doors for self-guided tours as well are guided tours, with no reservations needed.  Along with their beer, guests can sample some pub fare, including their own grain fed Sierra Nevada beef.

Craft Brewers Alliance

Craft Brewers Alliance is headquartered in Portland Oregon making 31 varieties and brands of beer.  Each brewery has an onsite pub and retail shop.  Craft Brewers Alliance has four breweries: Widmer Brothers, Redhook, Kona Brewing Company, and Gooseland Island.

Brooklyn Brewery

The Brooklyn Brewery has been open in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighboorhood in New York City since 1988.  Tours are provided every Saturday and Sunday at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm, no reservations required.  Learn the history behind the brand and get a free taste.  The brewery also has many events, such as jazz festivals, happy hours, dinners, and more.  The Brooklyn Brewery website also provides recipes for dishes using their variety of beers.
