Passover is a holiday typically celebrated at home with family and friends, however for those who are traveling and wish to partake in the festivities despite the distance from their loved ones, there is another viable option. Chabad.org offers the possibility to search for a local Passover Seder no matter what country or city you're in. Seders are conducted in over 40 countries ranging from the US and Canada to Peru, Namibia, South Africa, Switzerland, Ukraine, Italy, Ivory Coast, and Cambodia.
One of the largest Seders takes place in Kathmandu Nepal, where some 2,000 travelers and locals come together to celebrate the holiday. Chabad centers around the globe will open their doors and welcome anyone, offering a meal and camaraderie, especially to those away from home.
Passover begins on April 8th at sundown, celebrating the exodus from Egypt and liberation of the Israelites from slavery. According to tradition, the Israelites left Egypt in such haste that they didn't have time to let their bread dough rise, hence the reason for eating matzah and not eating leavened bread throughout Passover.
