San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf is well known for its seafood along with all of the various activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

For the visitor who enjoys seafood, you are at the right place as it is offered in many ways; sit down, take out, and cafeteria style. If you are looking for soup be prepared to get it by the; cup, bowl, French bread bowl, pint or quart. Yes, sea food comes in different sizes as well. There are also various candy and ice cream places that have almost anything that you could imagine.

People watching is always a favorite however going on a bike ride or taking one of the bay cruises can be a lot of fun and offer any visitor a chance to see the San Francisco Bay from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge while taking a look at Alcatraz Island. Most of these tours can be booked on the same day however if you are planning on visiting Alcatraz Island, contact the vendor at least two weeks in advance since they book up rather fast. Another way to see the area is by pedicar where you sit in a bicycle that looks like a rickshaw on wheels and someone else does the peddling while you are enjoying the scenery.

On the weekends and on various days of the week, a tourist might find a farmers market where all kinds of fresh produce can be found or where local restaurants have booths where you can enjoy the local cuisine.

For the avid photographer who loves to walk, there’s a lot to photograph. Try looking behind the Fisherman’s Wharf building and you will find the fishing fleet along with other vessels like an old sailing ship. For those who love to see old battle ships, the Jerome O’Brien has been restored and is docked there for public viewing. And lets not forget the Sea Lions that are just a short walk to Pier 39. Depending on your type of photography, a zoom lens maybe a good option due to the variety of photographic opportunities along with a polarizing filter that will help with any reflections that you may encounter.

There is something for the entire family including the double-decker carousel at Pier 39, so have fun with your camera.
