At approximately 11AM PST today, February 23, 2010 Lufthansa sent the following email to its valued customers:

Lufthansa confirms that it has reached a settlement with its pilots' union, Vereinigung Cockpit (VC), to suspend strike activity as of 6:00 pm eastern standard time, Feb. 22, 2010 until March 8, 2010.

The current special flight schedule for intercontinental flights, however, will remain in place for today, Feb. 23, 2010. Passengers who are scheduled to travel on Feb. 24-25 are advised to check lufthansa.com for updates to the schedule.

We expect a normal flight schedule for Friday, Feb. 26, 2010.

This is very good news to Lufthansa customers and is welcomed by all air travelers as it will relieve congestion in an already overcrowded air travel environment.  Since 30 March 2008, Lufthansa has flown daily from Frankfurt to Seattle, Lufthansa’s 18th destination in America.  Checking on the Lufthansa website, one can get a non-stop flight direct from Seattle to Frankfurt for about $1259, leaving February 27 and return on March 6, 2010, well within the window of the agreement.  This is a good value if you need to immediately get to the continent in a timely fashion.
