The weekend of January 21-24 looks like it is shaping up to be a good one to "stay-cation" in Sacramento. A reader graciously gave me a tip about a truly fantastic exhibit that is travelling around the country this year and Sacramento is the only stop in Northern California on the tour. As some of you may (or may not) know, the Boy Scouts of America are celebrating their 100 year anniversary this year. To commemmorate this milestone, BSA has put together a marvelous opportunity to experience all things scouting which they are calling "Adventure Base 100" (www.Scouting.org/100years). The arrival of the exhibit into Sacramento is dovetailing with the International Sportman's Expo, also scheduled for the weekend of January 22nd at the Cal Expo Center (www.sportsexpos.com). The BSA Adventure Base 100 is setting up camp Thursday January 21 and will run thru Sunday January 24. Come early and plan to spend some quality time as there will be tons to do. The Adventure Base 100 is a 10,000 square foot, that's right 10,000 square foot, "campus" which will provide young and old the opportunity to try their hand at a ropes course and a zipline (I always wanted to try this). After you have gotten your cardio in for the day, check out the interactive digital exhibits, a "multi-sensory IMAX-like dome" and more. The BSA have their National Museum in Irvine, Texas and included in the travelling exhibit will be real artifacts from the museum. So you can also learn something as well!
The International Sportsmen's Expo looks like a lot of fun as well. They are hosting the Dockdogs Water Jumping Contest, which I think is a blast. There will also be an Accuracy Fly-Casting Tournament. For the younger set, the Youth Outdoor Sports Fair starts on Friday afternoon.
The hours for the exhibit/expo vary a little each day, so here is the schedule: Thursday and Friday 11 am to 8 pm; Saturday 10 am to 7 pm and Sunday 10 am to 5pm. The cost is $15 for adults; youth and children under 15 are FREE!! Parking is $10.00. Cal Expo is located at 1600 Exposition Blvd, Sacramento, CA, 95815. So mark your calendar to head on down to Cal Expo next weekend!

AB100 is indoors at CalExpo in the Pavilion, so dont let the rain scare you! In fact, the Sportsmens Expo is a great indoor activity for a rainy day. Come on down!
