If you're looking for fireworks in Mesa today, the only place you're going to find them is at the Living Bible Church.
The Living Word Bible Church 4th of July Celebration begins at 5 p.m. The fireworks display should begin around 9:15 p.m. Along with the fireworks there will be an indoor BBQ, a Patriotic show and entertainment. Guest Speaker Dennis O'Neal will be featured at the 5 p.m. Saturday night service with the BBQ to follow. The Living Word Bible Church is located at 3520 E. Brown Rd. (Just west of Val Vista on Brown Rd.)
The evangelical group, which first met in Apache Junction, moved to Mesa in 2001,according to Harvard University's Pluralism Project. They have sponsored and hosted fireworks displays before.
The organizers of the city's event cancelled their July 4th Fireworks display for budget reasons, bringing an end to a tradition of nearly 40 years, according to KTAR. ABC 15 reports the annual event, which drew upwards of 10,000 people has been losing money over the last couple of years.
